well actually, this is my 2 cents worth about drummers and musicians..
well first of all, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, music is an art. these drummers are artistes. you dont hear people saying, "oh rembrant owns picasso" or something like that.
each person likes and thinks what he likes..
but of you were to see it this way, without comparison, ill say that buddy rich has the quickest speed if not the quickest. and joe morello has the best interpretation. neil peart has great techniques and dave weckl is a great exibitionist.

Totally agree i think different people have different interpretations of who they think is the best drummer at the moment
I love talking 'bout who's best drummer. First of all, the best in the business are Steve Gadd, Harvey Mason, Vinnie Colauita, Steve Smith and Simon Phillips. Regardless of the genre, these guys are at the top. Without a doubt, Neal Peart, Mike Portnoy, Terry Bozzio, Prairie Prince and don't forget a cat named Richard Bailey are awesome and should be on anybody's list of the best.
Now if you want to talk about the younger dawgs that kill it you've got to check out Josh Freeze, Ronald Bruner, Jr. (scary!), Antonio Sanchez, Russ Miller, Stanton Moore, Brooks Wackerman, Adrian Young and Atom Willard. These guys have incredible chops!
The problem(?) is that there are so many great drummers that it's almost impossible to answer the question without a long list.
The great thing is that we get to enjoy them all and learn from them.

to be honest,i don't think you can really judge like who's the best drummer in the world.
every drummer has their own strong points to consider.
you can't say that the drummer sucks cause he can't play jazz or because he can't unleash double pedal beats well over 200 bpm right..?

why no 1 mention mike mangini? he single pedal also can unleash double pedal beats. besides, u guys forget Thomas Lang........ i dunnolar( maybe i cacat) the way he play is unique, not many people can follow his style.
