Fender american deluxe stratocaster or gibson sg 61 reissue . which should i get for my second guitar . the strat soudns nice but the sg is just classic

oh my.. the second is my ultimate GAS..
the first promotes versatility and the ultimate twanginess of a fender...
the second the crunchy, fat and clarity available in gibson hums..
but most importantly, they're TOTALLY different..
its hard to compare two different brands, followed by guitar type, followed by wood specifications, followed by pickup type..
its all up to you my friend.. both are hefty on the wallet though..
the SG as usual has the issue of its tendency to neck dive..
american strat is the no-nonsense build thats more comfy to play with sitting down..
so yeahh.. ultimate choice boils down to what you look for in your guitar!

If you're considering a Fender MIA, then don't bother with the deluxe. Go for the American Vintages instead. Better resale value.

And I honestly don't know why most people only associate twanginess with strat tones... To me, twang is more a Tele thing...

Got twang meh?

Since you already have one strat, why do you want another?

haha perhaps same reason as why you have 3 .

He's got 1 guitar. He's looking to buy another. Why buy the same model for his 2nd guitar? Why not get something else first? THEN buy another strat in the future...

I can understand him getting another strat if he wants another strat. But a deluxe? It's basically not that different from his 1990 american standard, which is why I recommended the Vintages.

Oh, and I have 3 because after almost 20 years of playing, and owning more than 15 guitars, I now know what I want, so I've downsized to my core-collection. Been there, done that.;)

Oh, and by the way, I only play 2 of my 3 strats. The 62 (which i don't touch anymore) is currently in cold storage for another 15 years before I bring it out to sell... heheheheh...

i see , yeah , you know your stuff, if your selling your 1962 anytime soon tell me , im looking for one

innocent question , hmm doesnt swee lee sell them at 2.6k , american vintage reissues , unless yours in the real deal , i'd even pay you 10k , all i have is a few crappy american strats and a lousy Gibson les paul studio . nothing compared to your 1962 bro , not even if i throw in that useless martin

Swee Lee? American Vintage? $2.6k? Not anymore. And as I mentioned, it's the price I'd ask for. Anyone want to pay me that much, I'll let it go. Otherwise, in 10 to 15 years time, it'll be worth much more.
