Which tremolo system?

And why would you want to know? Not like you would want to buy an Ibanez Edge Pro from Ibanezrules.com eh? ;)

Anyway, here we go.

Ibanez Edge Pro
+ Unique saddle design (steel roller) = longer string life
+ Heavier baseplate (more mass on top = easier/smoother feel
+ Pop in arm holder = convinence and you can twirl it round and round
+ Spewter (spelling is wrong) trem block = warmer tone
+ Very low profile = well, low profile

- Plastic parts (like WTH!?!)
- Don't have to cut off ball end = more of a gimick
- Pop in arm holder gets loose like all the time.
- Spewter trem block dampens treble, to give a pseudo warmer tone
- Poor finish = wears very fast if not maintained

Original Floyd Rose
+ the first
+ Very sturdy, all harden (or is it cast?) steel
+ Steel trem block = bright tone
+ GOod arm design

- QC has fallen drastically
- High profile
- Steel trem block gives very thin tone

I forgot to add.

The OFR while the FIRST... it has not improved.

The Edge Pro has a lot of improvements over the OFR.

The licensed floyds on your guitars are probably a shadow of even the OFR...

Not sure what guitars use the Floyd Rose Pro.

Does the Profile matter to you that much?

IMO, the best floyds in terms of feel & tone and quality are:
1) Ibanez Edge
2) Ibanez Lo Pro Edge
3) Gotoh Licensed floyd rose
4) Schaller Licensed Floyd Rose
5) OFR

Low profile

I have not tried a low profile long enough to tell if there's any significant difference?

:?: I guess low profile would keep the string action lower at the higher frets and more uniform through out the neck.

For OFR the string action tend to be lower at the lower frets and gradually get higher at the higher frets.

I've been searching for a guitar. Can't find one :?

I had tried Ibanez's JEM and RGT
Jackson SL3

Like the action of JEM, don't like the inlays, finger board and bolt-on
Hate the factory setting of RGT and Jackson SL3

There aren't many maple finger/ebony board guitars around.

Prefer Maple/Ebony
Neck thru
Low profile locking trem
H-S-H or H-H

Okay, lets straighten some things out...
A low profile trem sits more flush/low to the body of the guitar. There is a clear visible difference. Go google for pics of the Ibanez Edge Pro and the OFR.

And no. Low Profile or not, it does not matter to the action.

If a Floyd Rose is set up well, whether its low profile or not, action can be adjusted to whatever you want.

Btw, whats "bad" about bolt on necks?

And how long have you been playing?

bolt on

I have nothing against bolt on
JEM is still one guitar I had tried and keep thinking abt :x

just prefer neck thru to bolt-on.
more access to the higher frets.
Everybody have their dream axe, mine is neck thru

So the low profile is only aesthetic and not funtional :?:
That's sure clear so of my doubts...

Been playing 13 years. Never had the money to buy better guitars

Ahh... okay... see where you are getting at now. :P

No, the low Profile effects how much of the floyd sticks out of the guitar. Yeah, in a way, since it doesn't matter to people like me, its asthetic. To some, a normal Floyd just sticks out too much and they can't stand it. However, low profile trem design usually incoporate slightly less mass and due to the design, trem is just a touch stiffer.

take note of the routing and trem block dimensions and see whether whatever u wanna buy can be retrofitted inside..

Search for "Gotoh Floyd Rose shipment" there are measurements.

Gotoh Licensed Floyd Rose. I'll take it over the OFR ANYDAY. Just superior in every aspect and pricing is cheaper.

Hey Peeps, i own a Samick JR 550, its the exact copy of the the Jackson guitar.

anyway, my guit uses the flyd rose system but the floyd rose on it is stock since i bought it abt 6 yrs ago! ive not changed a single thing on it.

im guessing its the Original Floyd Rose y'all are talking abt!

problem is the strings are lower on the top half of the neck but when it comes to the lower part nearer to the pups, its kinda higher.

i find it harder to do a solo on the lower part of the neck due to this prb.
btw i use DR Extra Life red coated strings gauge 9.

Any solutions to solve this prb so that they are evenly low constnatly?
What muz i change or mod to achieve this?

Thanx a Million!
