I'm using Logic Pro for Recording to Mix & Mastering.

Not sure about driver. Many vendor now support "driverless" coreaudio but not sure about Mackie. I don't remember people complain about driver problem from Mackie. The most complain is from Digidesign in the past.

I've never used helix phonix nor m-audio. although i have a friend who swears by his delta4040.served well.

cos you asked define kickass. if I was putting up a wrong statement saying mackie = better than presonus I would have been flamed by now. but then again, my statement alone won't represent anything definitive. so it's a questioning answer to your question for you to confirm back with me after you've gotten the onyx. you've used the presonus firepod right? so you would get pretty much the same experience.
