My budget is around 1k +/-
I've been researching around incl. harmony central & reading about some strats around that price range.

I've narrowed it down to 2 strats.

Edwards SE-93 Strat

Swing Standard

Alot of positive feedbacks & comments on these 2 guitars.
I might consider Fender Japan too.

So I was wondering which strat to get. Tough decision..
Does anyone know how much it cost to buy Edwards Strat from Davis? I don't recall them having Edwards strats. Maybe I should give them a call..

Kindly give your opinions and suggestions :)

If I'm not clear on anything, do tell me too.

thanks for the reply.
it seems that you favour the fender highway strat alot cuz its not the 1st time i see u recommending it.

Any shops in particular to find the highway strat other than sweelee?
Also, I dont have much knowledge on japan fender's.
Are there other models beside ST72? Cuz I don't really know how to differentiate.

the H1 strat is a sensible guitar, not for the critically demanding of course. i own one (& a Tele too...) & had no issues with it. waiting for the American Special to debut here :-)

i also own the ST-72; equally great guitar. japanese QC is simply impressive. there are ST62/ 57/ 54 in the shops, you can identify them by their tags.

check out Standard Value, BGW & Allmusic for Fender stuff.

hmm wow. i just read up reviews on h1 & american special.
:O I'm getting GAS.

When are they bringing american special in?

hey xpresso,

my opinion differ from all,
build wise, the above mentioned are good for the price. of cos you can rest assure of the build

more and most importantly is the comfort and playability in your hand, i stressed it...IN YOUR HAND.

suggest you try it out..

Agreed with what morello said.

The above guitars are all great candidates. The Swings are known for being exceptionally value for money. So are the Edwards, top-notch quality at great prices.

If you ask me, I'd go with the Edwards, simply because I have a soft spot for them. I've an Edwards Les Paul copy, and it's my main-stay guitar nowadays.

Alternatively, if ordering from Davis doesn't work out, there's always TYMC. They can order Edwards for you too, at very reasonable prices. Furthermore, you know your money's safe with CK and Augustine.

never dealt with TYMC b4.

I have an Edwards Les Paul too thats why I was considering an Edwards Strat :)
I'll definitely look at all the options available and try it.
Swing & Japan Fender might turn me off though..
I dont like lacquer.

hmm not really.
i listen to blues.. & rock.
players like...gary moore, srv, eric johnson, andy timmons...so on.

well...more towards '80s rock too.

I love the '59 SD pickups on my Edwards Les Paul :)

well the hwy1 would suit your type of music with the hotter pickups, but of course you lose abit of that vintage tone and some of the quack tone, but in turn you get pickups which can handle more gain/distortion. Also the hwy1 headstock is the large one, so its kinda a lovehate affair. The satin finish would also dent easily, but i'm not one who likes glossy finishes, so it is fine for me. The American Special features Texas Specials pickups while the hwy1 are alnicos~

any of you seen the Tokai GS150?
