if youre just starting out, its best to get something basic.
Who knows that you might just lose interest after a few mths?
You'll be left with a $600 axe collecting dust.
Once you're a decent enuff player, splurge if you have the dough to spare. Moreover by that time, YOU'LL know what is it that YOU really want in a guitar/amp/effects etc.
I recalled someone here getting a mid-of-the-line Ibanez from Swee Lee. And he/she was just a beginner. WTF?
