Which radio station do you prefer? 98.0 or 98.7?

Hi I was just wondering which radio station you prefer and why? DJ personalities or they somehow play better music most of the time or they are always doing some event which you patronise...?

And hopefully this wasn't asked before and I'm not wasting a thread hehe

I think both got their own merits la . I havent been listening to radio for a long time but from experience i think 987 music more hip hop kinda music and 98 more classics, not too sure though

Would love to see a hard rock/grunge/metal kind of radio channel appear on the sound radars :-D

Hmmm... i have basically been a follower of 987fm since my friend introduced me to it since i was 9. lol. There's a variety of personalities in the station and the music, well, you either love it or you hate it. lol. One thing though, their Power hits are always playing every 1 hr or so... which sometimes gets on your nerves...

i like 987, i dont rlly like power cuz i find the songs the play ther quite boring and old.. and most of the time if their not playing ''power hits'' then its American Top 40 with ryan seacrest..

I prefer Power 98. They play better music (usually, except for the overplayed top 40 stuff) and have better deejays, IMO. I used to listen to 98.7FM in my secondary school days, but the music isn't really my cup of tea anymore. And the deejays...well, I don't know. I kinda miss the older ones like Jean, Glenn, John, Kate and etc.

But I do have to agree with the earlier posts. We need a rock/alternative, metal and indie station.

Different radio stations are design to cater to different kind of listeners.

98.7 was form to showcase to whatever is hip in the music scene at the current point of time. Thus the shift of different genres for its music staple throughout the years and was my fav station back in the early to mid 90s as it was playing lotsa Grunge and Brit Rock. It also interesting to see that the station produced high flying deejays as well, Florence Lian, Mark Richmond, Bernard Lim, Dahlia Z, etc... For those that don't remember or know, Perfect 10 used to have a resident rock chick deejay, Ann Neo. Her slot will ALWAYS be filled with some sort of rock/heavy metal music. Thanks to her I gotta know Skid Row... :mrgreen:

Power 98 is commisoned by MINDEF, so its tailored for the NSFs, NSmen and SAF Regulars listeners. That its why there is less "chick music" heard on it. Also the music played have to be suitable for broadcast at army camps as well..

I also won;t mind a radio station that plays more indie stuff. I stopped listening to radio a long time ago, cause all you hear on it is a lot of Top Hits, RnB, Hip-hop, etc. We need a real rock station. Something that can play A Wide genre of rock, from classic, to metal, to pop-rock, etc.

to me 98 or 987 both don play songs I really really like. I do listen to 80-90s pop so 95 for me.
But I must say I love the muttons of 98.7 cos they are freaking hilarious. I tune in just for them.
Pillowfight with Soo has local stuff, so I support...
but she's got the LAMEST, DUMBEST people who call in.
