subversion said:Classic series, 70s model- then again, it might be more than USD400, otherwise, it's a worthy acquisition...

if you are in the states, do consider getting a model which isn't available here eg: 50th Anniversary Std Strat:

subversion said:Classic Series 70s strat is MIM. it's currently my fav mex fender because:
*sweet ash body- gives it a brighter tone but adds bass as well (due to the mass)
*great default pickups- impressive clean & drive...
subversion said:the Jimmie Vaughan strat is an above average performer but the V-neck profile is a love/ hate affair. i suggest you try both before deciding... 8)
subversion said:the Buddy Guy is an average performer, i'd rather you get the Robert Cray instead, it comes with Custom Shop Fender single coils- superb!
subversion said:the Satin Std Strats have been my personal fav, if you can get a HH version (new for 2005) then it'd be interesting because it's not available here in SG. however, if you are a single coil person, the SSS version is more than capable of producing vintage/ contemporary tones.
i personally feel that the Lite Ash models are over-priced since they are Korean, nevermind if they have genuine Duncans by default. however, if you are in love with this guitar, don't let anyone sway you from getting it. 8)
