Which boost should I get? Using it to boost a 7th, particularly on my favourite green channel! Looking for something close to Andy Timmon's Lead tone on Electric Gypsy. Try to include a reason why you chose that too! My budget is under $200 and should be PT-mini friendly. Let me know if you have any other suggestions

Doubt you should be using a Boost pedal into a Seventheaven, since most Boost pedals are designed to hit the front end of your amp after your dirt pedals. It will mostly end up sounding like a goosed seventh IMO.
Perhaps you should look into OD pedals to add compression as well as overall dirt into the seventheaven.

Just use your guitar's volume knob. start by setting your 7th to full distortion, then adjust guitar's volume to get a cleanish tone, set it to max volume to "boost"

If you're determined on a booster, I really like the Retro-Sonic Boost pedal.
Pedal that is under the radar but it is REALLY good!

Why do you like it?

BTW regarding your first post, I thought that if you place another pedal before, it will act as a gain boost, after and it'll act as volume boost? And yes you're right it will retain the characteristics of the 7th if I place it before, however, the EP has a bright switch and a bass boost switch and my idea behind it has that I would turn the bright switch off, bass boost on to smooth things out.

My use of a booster is as a Volume boost (mostly get's switched on Live or for solos during jam sessions). At home I lower the Vol knob drastically to use it as an EQ of sorts.

The Retro-Sonic is in effect, a BOSS FET FA-1 Amplifier clone, with modern modifications (footswitch, true bypass). With the bass and treble knob at noon, you get a PURE clean boost that doesn NOT touch your EQ. With your treble higher, you get GLASSY tones, and adds chime. I was so surprised I could get my clean Vox tone when I'm not at home.
There's also a toggle for a bass cut so you can get faux-Rangemaster tones although it is not in anyway one. So don't expect for a RM setting to sound like a real RM when stacked with a Fuzz Face behind (ala Sunface). Also inside are 2 toggles to make the Boost into more of an OD and another to lessen the treble range, that way you can make minute changes in the upper frequencies using the knob.

All in all it is a boost pedal, and there is plenty of volume on tap that it borders on the ridiculous. Let's just say unity is like placing the knob at '1', AKA 7 o'clock.

I vote for the MXR/CAE one. But if i were you i'd use an overdrive before the 7th and then the boost after!

Hmm, I think I may just get both RC AND EP. Got one RC off the forum, PGS's having a sale, so will order one from them this weekend.

James: How would you think a BB Preamp would do before the 7th? One of my favs, but sadly had to sell it off last time. Don't mind getting my hands on it again

haha. Ok, I think the BB has enough of a midrange hump:P, oh well will try the RC tmw, if I don't like it, will put it up for trades for a BB.

UPDATE!

Bought a RC, not what I was expected, traded it for a Rockett Flex Drive, and now it's my favourite drive:) Loves to be stacked with the 7th. Next up, Hardwire Phaser!
