hey guys, I'm planning to buy a new bass...but I'm kinda stuck between 2 basses now :p hahaha maybe you guys could give me your views on which bass is better :D

http://bass-guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Squier-Vintage-Modified-Jazz-Bass?sku=519639

This bass is a Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Bass.

http://bass-guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Ibanez-ATK300-Electric-Bass-?sku=511834

This is the Ibanez ATK300 bass.

Both of them have equally great reviews...stating that they're both versatile basses in terms of tone and they're both well made and reliable and very value for money. Thats why im stuck between them both.

The Squier is cheaper than the Ibanez though. Hope you guys can give me your tots and help :-D

I vote Squire :P I just love the tone of that squire.

Aesthetic wise, Squire wins by a mile for me. Just look at it

Tone Squire wins as well coz It can sound very close to Marcus miller Jazz bass

subversion: thanks for the reviews dude. they really helped me :D

Morlock: Yeah! judging from the reviews...i guess ill go for the Squire...it looks hot and yeah...the tone is nice...except its passive pickups...not active like the Ibanez...but hey...hahaha XD

thanks for your views guys :D appreciate it.

oh and one more thing...does anyone have any experince buying basses or any other instruments online? From websites like musiciansfriend.com or music123.com ?

I scared they scam my money or they send my bass to the wrong place then my money all wasted :\ sorry...being really paranoid XD hahaha

thanks :D

don't worry active electronics, in the future look for a 2nd hand J-retro preamp in the buy and sell area when your ready (only 300 bucks I think) and your good to go. now you can take advantage of the so many different tones you can get out of the duncan designed pickups. or you can also get an outboard preamp etc. with this option you can get more eq controls unlike with the Ibanez active electronics you are going to be stuck with only 3 band eq. I am not even sure if Ibanez preamps are good.

but if you are talking about the Ibanez SRs then its a totally different ball game. that one comes with bart pickups and electronics but also twice more expensive hehe.

subversion: is the website for BGW bgwguitars.com ? cuz i went inside and they didn't have the bass i wanted ): mmm thanks for the help tho :D

hAdes: hey. haha yeah its cheaper than getting it from a shop...like the bass i'm getting - the Squire Vintage Jazz...swee lee is selling it for 600odd bucks. musiciansfriend sells it for 399.99 USdollars...which is 560 SGD. its cheaper by abit and the shipping is free...so yeah haha the only bad thing from buying online is that you'll have to wait for your bass to arrive instead of getting it straight away and you run the risk of your purchase being mis-shipped and your money being cheated(highly unlikely tho XD ) hahaha cheers :D

what kind of bass are you looking for? and budget. there are tons of great basses in our buy and sell section right now. might want to check them out. the fender jazz basses there are a real bargain. also the Ibanez SR (I'm Gasing for them so much right now!!)

you can e-mail/ PM Brendon to ask if he can bring in what you want. i ordered a guitar not in his inventory, after 4 days, it's at my doorstep. no issues whatsoever. 8-)

just email Brendon at that website with the bass you want, and he'll give you a quote.

and about that whole shipping-is-free thing, it only applies in the US. so you still have to pay to get it shipped here. GST also adds to the cost.

but luckily Brendon will take care of all those costs, so just email him and the price he gives you is the price you pay.

i'm looking at the fender jazz but i'm curious how the modified vintage squire feels like. my budget is 2k. i think i'd step into the shops and try 'em all out :)

mikeyway: hopefully the price Brendon@BGW is cheaper! all the best in shopping for your bass bro :)
