Where to buy LP player & vinyl records?

Hi guys

I'm looking to buy an LP player and vinyl records. Just starting out, so would like to get an affordable one. Can be 2nd hand, but preferably from a store that sells them new or refurbishes them, so if there are any problems with the player I can go back to them.

Looking to spend not more than $200 on LP player.

As for the vinyl records, I'm interested in jazz, classical and rock ones. Any tips where I can get these?

Memory Lane at Adelphi Basement refurbishes and repairs record players. not sure if he sells them though. I got my old Technics 1600 3rd hand thru a friend of a friend so you should ask your friends who own record players. You could also try trolling the fleas at sungei road. I once saw a vinyl player boombox.. really cool but the guy wants to sell it for 300.

Shops selling vinyl. Couple of second hand vinyl shops around the Penin/Adelphi area but usually all the really old stuff.. you'll have to dig to find the gems. Sungei Road also has a couple of guys selling old skool mat rock on vinyl... styx, whitesnake etc

For brand new latest pressings and some second hand records you should go to Roxy Records, Excelsior Hotel Shopping Centre. Enter the escalators on the side facing the firestation. It's round the corner near the Interstate Skate shop. Gramophone at Cathay also sells brand new vinyl but mostly the more mainstream stuff.

Straits has vinyl too but mostly hardcore/reggae
 
My First

Well.. i got my very first Record player few years ago.. went Sg Road on a sat ( where they have more stuff), got a player (pls get them to check using a power generator to see that the motor is running).

There was no stylus, belt or working head. So I took it for 10 bux..

went to Sim Lim Tower 3rd floor this uncle shop facing the escalator. Got the replace parts for 40..

total amt spent = 50 :P (Btw the uncle shop has his own sets of refurbished ones priced btw 100-200)

Although my player was a relatively unknown brand (SCOTT - phased out in europe in the early 80's) it worked like a charm.. just need a good head/catridge and stylus and your all set.

Finally own my own thorens now.. :)

I dun noe the name of the shop.. but its at SIM LIM TOWER.. not SIM LIM SQUARE.
3rd floor facing you as u go up the escalator.. its a messy electrical shop.. you should see some vinyl players hanging around..

I'm giving up my collections of records.
Anyone interested in vinyl records. Needs to clear. Many collectables, Queen, Led Zeppelin, Rod Stewart, movies soundtrack over 1000 titles. Many Jazz, GRP records. Some still sealed. Got many chinese titles too Leslie, Anita Mui, Danny Chan. Don't worry all original. Giving up collections

if u want very cheap and good player, buy the Bush mtt1. it is very small.....
i have it and for its very cheap price, it is very worthy................

I saw them online for 60 pounds. cant find their website.
Anyone has any idea on where to find them in Singapore new ?
 
im not selling it guys...........
i bought this online as i cant find anything that small and good in sg.......

wasn't there a shop on that chinese tv show series "Evolution" about music which sells LOADS of vinyl players? check xin msn , "evolution" with chen han wei and that girl from 881.
