SOFT is a good place....

but also beware of some seller who price their 2nd hand price almost as high as new...

better to know the market price...

maybe u can roughly tell your budget... cause cheapest is a subjective word.....

Try drumsresources Mr Nigel Gan (9117 0692),people who have met Nigel will just have good words to say abt his passion for drums and of cos with an excellent attitude. Nigel carries Istanbul Mehmet cymbals, they sound excellent and more affordable then what Yamaha (Zildjians), Swee Lee (Sabian), Ranking (Paiste, Meinl) are selling their stuff..

Or try MusicLab which carries Turkish cymbals, Music Gear carries Dream cymbals, Accent Musical Equipment carries Bosphorus which is also not bad. I have called Accent before and was quite impressed with their service.

And avoid chop carrot places with lousy service like Ranking, esp that u mentioned u have limited budget, Ranking will not even bother to look at u. No $ No Talk, Not Buying NO TESTING. If u look around, an old fart there will glare n stare at u, esp if they think u have no means to buy any cymbals. :)

For Swee Lee, u mst know the people there, if not another place where they chop carrot. How they chop? Well, a Pearl Reference snare is priced at most $700 in Hong Kong Tom Lee, in Swee Lee, it is selling at almost $2k. :)

As for SOFT, there are some jokers who sell badly oxidised and badly maintained (while stating excellent condition) cymbals and hardware at almost brand new prices or like $50-$100 less only. Not to mention some sellers with a snobbish attitude. But I have met some good ones who sell at v good prices. My suggestion is to know what u will be getting, check out the market prices b4 dealing with sellers here.

My suggestion will be try not to go with something low end cos eventually, u will need to change them. Why not save up more and get something decent (more to mid-range)? Cos if u buy something low end, and u keep upgrading, u are actually spending more. HTH.

hi KeanOng

U didn't state you looking for crash hihat or ride. I supposed you want to get all of them with $150. Thats impossible!

Yeah i saw someone recommend the PST 5 and 201 Paiste.
Thats really good recommendation for budget limitation.
Ranking Sports at bras basah sells them in box pack(all hihat crash and ride included). They sound as good when compared to mid end and advance cymbals.

Around $500? (that's y i say impossible, unless kind soul softies want to sell you cheap)
SO save more money until you got $500 then buy either 201 or PST 5 model. They will last you very long. Cos the sound is good, you won't want to change cymbals so easily.

REMEMBER! Nvr go for PST 3!
Just the difference in digit and it can sound very bad the PST 3

Professionals also use PST 5

Sorry, but this message will be a bit long for you. I have a stock premier olympic crash cymbal, and a pair of hi hat, Paiste 101 16" crash, and a Paiste 402 20" Ride. any of them must change? and Paiste PST 5 cymbals like crash, ride and hi hat, are they good and do they sell individually?

: ) you should be asking yourself if you want to change any cymbals. if you don like your cymbal sound you won't b asking for opinions. So i guess you have to believe in yourself, which cymbal sound you don like, change.

I will say that the hi hat of pst 5 is gd. The ride and crash i have no opinion.
They do sell separately.

Just my opinion.
