im 14 years old, with very little cash. i need help on you guys to tell me which cymbal is the best, and where can i buy cymbals at best price. thanks!!!
Try drumsresources Mr Nigel Gan (9117 0692),people who have met Nigel will just have good words to say abt his passion for drums and of cos with an excellent attitude. Nigel carries Istanbul Mehmet cymbals, they sound excellent and more affordable then what Yamaha (Zildjians), Swee Lee (Sabian), Ranking (Paiste, Meinl) are selling their stuff..
Or try MusicLab which carries Turkish cymbals, Music Gear carries Dream cymbals, Accent Musical Equipment carries Bosphorus which is also not bad. I have called Accent before and was quite impressed with their service.
And avoid chop carrot places with lousy service like Ranking, esp that u mentioned u have limited budget, Ranking will not even bother to look at u. No $ No Talk, Not Buying NO TESTING. If u look around, an old fart there will glare n stare at u, esp if they think u have no means to buy any cymbals.
For Swee Lee, u mst know the people there, if not another place where they chop carrot. How they chop? Well, a Pearl Reference snare is priced at most $700 in Hong Kong Tom Lee, in Swee Lee, it is selling at almost $2k.
As for SOFT, there are some jokers who sell badly oxidised and badly maintained (while stating excellent condition) cymbals and hardware at almost brand new prices or like $50-$100 less only. Not to mention some sellers with a snobbish attitude. But I have met some good ones who sell at v good prices. My suggestion is to know what u will be getting, check out the market prices b4 dealing with sellers here.
