where do you buy your effects?

I've been going around spore looking for some bass effects and finding some difficulty in getting the effects.

Most of the time the shops here only sell the "popular" ones, and you want something that's not boss or mxr, you can't find it, or it's going to be sold at ridiculous prices at Swee Lee.

So where do you all get your nice effects pedals?

I was looking around for a Demeter Compulator... but I don't think any shop sells it here.

So I guess the way to go is to buy and import it on our own then

Yup There's no distributor for Demeter in Singapore as far as I know... there's at least one person with a Compulator though; I remember seeing it on display at the Wakemeup shop a long time ago and it was gone a couple of weeks later.

Yeah, I was really having a hard time looking for this and other pedals.

So i take it that the usual thing is to order from overseas unless you're buying Boss or mxr stuff.

That must be quite tough for fellow bassists in Spore, since there's not much choice to choose from if we just go to the shops looking for pedals...

Demeter Compulator would cost ard $416 with shipping. I'm planning to import one in ard 3 mths time. iverson763 expressed his interest too.
Unless Ebenex decides to bring it in*hint*

S$416 is pretty high. Have you checked out MusicToyz? It's USD200 for the Compulator & USD25 for shipping. That should work out to around about S$350.

Oh I see. The Demeter site listed $219 for the standard color and $259(colored) plus Shipping($53.50 USD)=$ 414.336 SGD for the standard color.
If MusicToyz is cheaper than I might consider it if they ship to SG. But my target is to save up for it in 3 mths time.

5stringwonder: does musictoyz ship to singapore? last i checked it doesnt. neither can you do a vpost cos they dun allow sinagpore credit cards.

Never ordered from MusicToyz. Most of my orders have been from ToneFactor or straight from eBay/Talkbass. They do have the shipping to the "Far East" so it's a bit strange if tey don't ship here. I guess you can email them to check again.

An alternative to buying the pedal new is to look in the Talkbass classifieds for a used Compulator. They appear every now and then for round about USD150.
