Just thought I open a topic that I am curious about.

Vocalists, when your lead guitarist takes the spotlight on a solo, what do you often do?

Dry hump him from behind?

Hey, I am kidding lah..

I usually just dance a little bit here and there.. depending on what songs lah..

Some people say that I like to stroke the mike stand a lot...

Lol. Funny answers

I think it's pretty interesting to observe what vocalists do when the guitarists does his/her lead solo (the 'her' part being an EXTREME rarity).

I find it easier to deal with that situation if i have a mic stand somehow. I pretty much know that I can just hold on to the stand, stay rooted at one spot and just look like bang my head (up and down, not on the mic stand).

I always thought that, psychologically, it's like 'hiding' behind the mic stand (the psychology of stroking the mic stand is something else, I would guess... 0.o").

But without the mic stand, that's a little tougher.

I usually smile at my lead guitarist & move with the groovin', baby! Gotta learn to enjoy that short break away from singing & just take a breather. yea, I do stroke my mic stand occasionally too or I play around with the stand, sorta like move it here & there. ;)

Since the guitarist is now the center of attention, please respect him and get into what he's doing. I love it when lead singers play air guitar to the solo.

I never notice.. I think I either headbang or make swoony faces at the crowd LOL
shit if it's the latter

I think if you just listen and "feel" the music your body will automatically move to the music and you won't need to worry about what you do... it'll just come naturally lor
Just don't think about it.. but if it's those long solos thing.. Just watch how the crowd enjoys it and "bounce" the energy back.. like.. join them in how they enjoy it.. if they dance, watch them and dance along.. stuff like that.. guitar solo leads are usually a great opportunity for the vocalists to interact with the crowd.. I don't know how to describe this because I'm a toot.
