when u slap...

i tried slapping on my strat(cudnt afford a real bass yet) yesterday..
popped with my index finger n it blistered...n slapped with my thumb n it hurts!
if it slapping on a strat hurts,wud it be much worse on the bass?

Pop will be more difficult on guitar since the strings are thinnest and hence sharper which will cos blisters faster.

I guess you have to know the proper technic to slap and pop which will help reduce the chances of getting blisters that fast.

Basically it is more easy to slap and pop on a bass than on guitar unless u are regi wooten or stanley Jordan.

make sure got extra set of strings

like fretting with your left hand, you have to let the callouses (sp?) form. once it's there you shouldn't get blisters just sore fingers when you pop alot.

also if your strings are dirty there'll be more friction when you pop so the chances of getting blisters is higher. i get sore fingers everytime i play studio basses.

no lah .. slap on bass not so bad .. i only blister when i slap too much ..like serious intensive slapping practice ..
