What's your rates for paid gigs ?

I just moved here and I don't know too much about the Singapore's music scene.
I read a similar thread, but I still have this question.
How much you would charge for a private event.
For one set of music ?
For one night of 3 sets ?
How much you guys would charge ?

well,i think thats rather a sensitive qn fr bands to be revealing their fee fr events...well frm wad i know generally,bands may charge frm 600-3500 depending on event...

is that too high or too low?

if it's a 3 piece band, SGD800 will be considered not bad an amount. if its a 5 piece band, SGD800 is more or less the "market rate" for a 3 set night gig, by right. for corporate shows, you can charge up to as high as 3 to 4k depending on the profile of the company. nowadays alot of bands spoil market... so well...

Do these fees include equipment rental costs?

I mean, when you quite $800, do the organiser pay for the equipment costs separately or do you cover them yourselves?

$800 is alot. Especially for a young band. [No offense to anyone though.]

I guess most bands would have different rates for different kinds of performances, for different kinds of organisations, Corporate and Independent. Rates are usually reasonable and negotiable still. [That's for the bands that I have had worked with so far, in my rather limited experience.]

I think its not a bad thing to be open discussion concerning $ rates for performances. If nothing was shared, the norm wouldn't be known, and there'll be a lot of misconception. E.g bands getting $5k for 1 set, and bands paying to play...

I would guess the people who want to keep the secret are either those who are really getting $5k per set OR those who're more informed and are out to exploit newbies who know nothing.

heh, imho, majority of the bands here, beign paid for shows, prolly wont post how much they get. But if you are in the circle, roughly you will hear bits and pieces of it and no, they dont get as much as what a lot of people think, unless the band is somewhere up there kinda. And even so, it depends on what kinda shows etc. Its all about helping one another sometime and biz sometime. Making money from gigs? Heh, be good enough if can cover bit of transport and occassional drinking..

when in the real working world(not part time job or school hols job), its never a good thing to openly talk bout your salary. If dont believe, heh, try it next time when getting into the society to work..being open is one thing, letting the other know about somthing that cud be used against us is another..

My band charges a minimum of 1K since we are currently a new band, but then the venue owners take care of us haha. (i.e. beer and others etc)

But 1K is only considered "OK" for us, since we are a large band.
