What's the difference between installing a .022 orange drop and a .047 orange drop?

Can anyone tell me the diff between the .022 orange drop and the .047 orange drop in terms of tone and etc. aft installation on the guitar?

The larger the cap value, the more highs it will cut as you roll ur tone knob down.

On a Les Paul, common values are .015uf on the neck and .022uf on the bridge.

In short, more tonal options.

Not more tonal options. Just different.

If the guitar had ceramic capacitors to start, orange drop caps will give the guitar a more hifi tone, I do not know how true this is because I've never heard a before and after test after installing orange drop caps. I personally prefer paper in oil.

Values on the other hand have a more obvious change in tone. Like what I said before the larger the cap value, the more highs it attenuates. If you install a .047uf capacitor on the bridge pickup, rolling the tone knob down to zero will remove more treble or give a muddier tone than if a .022uf capacitor is installed instead.

Lol...I was told that a .022 would give a brighter sound and a .047 a more normal sound. So if I'm playing J-Rock...which of the 2 values of orange drops would u recommend?

Hmm, my strat just went for orange drops, i knew nuts about it, so i let the guys at TY explain. They kinda summed it up. In short, they said, more range of the volume. I don't know about Humbuckers, but it sure sounds good with SCs.

@Z-Chao: inside J-Rock itself got different kinds of intensity. Wanna be more specific?

Erm....visual kei...and wad is the diff between rock and heavy metal? Hahas...i dunno le...as in what kind of intensity...rock? Metal? or wad? And wad are SCs? Is j-rock considered rock or heavy metal...cos I will know which 1s to get if I know wad is j-rock considered as...lols...

Single Coils. Intensity as in like, for example, in the very wide genre of rock, there is the largely alternate styles of lifehouse, as compared to the punk style of Sum 41 and Blink 182.

Oh...erm its the style of the bands alice nine and larc en ciel...larc en ciel is famous for its guitarist...u shld know the band...erm, in short its visual kei...not some sort of punk rock...

Its just a tone capacitor. It won't make such a big difference unless you're tweaking the tone knob on your guitar alot.

I'm sure you'll leave it at 10 all the time anyway.

Don't lose too much sleep over the value of the cap.

agreed.

don't waste your time on the irrelevant. if you're worried about tone, you should be worrying more about your amp.

i tot visual kei is a form of dressing and not a genre of music?

Actually if you play with your tone knob on 10 all the time, the value and material of the cap will be of negligible difference. The difference is when you roll down. The bigger the value, the greater the difference in "darkness".
