Hi

What's the difference between a MIJ Fender Telecaster and a MIK Fender Telecaster?

I'm planning to get a Fender Telecaster, 2nd handed.
I've been thinking to get a MIJ fender telecaster all the while...
until one day i went to Guitar Connections @ Peninsular...
and ask a Fender Telecaster @ a budget of 800+.
So the Shop owner introduce me to this MIK Fender Telecaster forgotten which year was it....

He told me the sound of this MIK Fender Telecaster will sound better than the CIJs. As People always say the Line up for fenders are MIA, MIJ, MIM and comes to MIK right???
And that made me stopped thinking to buy one first before knowing more details.

so Friends in SOFT. Some Advice? Knowledge to share? hahaha
I'm a newbie here in know about guitars.

i advise you to test the teles yourself, make an A B comparison.
what sounds great to me might be shit to you.

my 2 cents

AFAIK the only MIK fenders were made in the early 90s...those had small 'squier series' where u would find the 'original contour body' logo on the headstocks.

basically, if thats the MIK he has...then dont bother.

Veneer, and it's more for aesthetic than sound. Solid koa top or full koa is mucho expensive, and more likely used by small boutique guitar makers.

not really.
epiphone had a koa G-400 MIK that was discontinued about 5yrs ago...was solid koa but around a 3-pc body.
they also released a koa explorer and V.

heres an epiphone forumer's collection.

american standard are just like mexican standard or japan standard....

american standard about 1.6

mexican standard about 800

japanese standard ...its call ST-STD about 750 from ishibasihi web..

There's even Telecasters made in Japan?Are there any Fender American Standard crafted in Japan?

... Dude, the name american implies that it's made in america.

It'll help if you do some basic research before asking.

Check this site for whatever fender is making in japan now:

fenderjapan.co.jp

Talking about FenderJapan, they got a funky way to name their Strat and Tele.

Stratocaster = SUTORATOKYASUTA

Telecaster = TEREKYASUTA
