what wood to use for d.i.y pedalboard? help me

hey guys...
i'm thinking of making a pedalboard by myself...
but i do not know what is the best and cheap type of wood around...
i would want a wood that when i step/engage on my pedal...
it breaks...
and i also want a type of wood that the spray paint color wont sink thru...
pls give me some recommendations

go to ikea and buy a piece of gorm shelving plank. Go google gorm pedalboard. Only cost $7. Gotta do some customization though, people have removed the middle plank and repositioned it so that there is more space inbetween the planks for your cables.

Go to industrial parks, and find shops that make wooden furniture. They usually cut wood to specs. Should be good for you since you want to customize.
