what we are lacking?

make sure you watch the director's cut, it's the superior version
*It's ALL happening!*

Walk Hard is cool too, I guess

Lol, i strongly doubt that we'd need a tour manager for gigs in singapore.

Groupies===> moar plzkthxbai. <10000%>>><>

Well most of the well established local bands have some form of management or booking agency to help them look after the admin and logistics side.

But the key question to ask is how much money do most of these gigs pay out per band??
Do you think there is enough there for third parties to start taking cuts?
10% of $100 doesn't even cover taxi fare!

we just need to put in more effort, that's all.

whether as a member of the audience, band, promoter, you name it.

if singapore is like USA, we can do touring.

bands in the USA have to do touring for the convenient of their fans who live in far distance. if the fans were in florida, and the band is having concert/gig in washington, the fan has to travel in days to reach washington. i feel if our band were to perform within singapore, fans from any part of singapore only have to BMWT (bus, mrt, walk, train) or even better if the fans have their own transportation. travel time in singapore requires less than 2 hours from end to end of the island. that's why band tour in singapore is not a need.

i agree with some of the opinions here. it's the quality that matters. it's not the more places a band has performed (10 places in singapore in one month), the better the band is. unless (you're right) we talking about big countries like malaysia, indonesia, thailand etc..

i think what we lack is quality of a band and music as a whole.

WE ARE LACKING ENDORSEMENT DEALS!!! from FnB companies.

I want Popeye's to endorse me. I'd gladly do it for a minimal free of free-chicken-for-life.

I don't mind Yeo's endorsing me too though. Herbal tea is good after so much fried chicken.

Save money and arrange your own tours overseas.
Get your demos/tracks recorded at a decent quality.
Most importantly get tight as a band.

Its not about album sales, playing many/big shows, getting any sort of endorsement deal or making money.

Its about playing your heart out at a show, writing music that actually means something to you, and I guess you 'make it' when someone out there tells you they can relate to your music.

Its a long tough journey full of obstacles, and you probably will not be able to earn back the cost of air tickets through the gigs, but I can almost assure you it'll be an experience of a LIFETIME.

I read in a 'How to be a towkay" book today and I quote "If there is passion, you will be happy even if you are overworked and underpaid"

tour manager?
we do only need tour managers if we're good enuf..
for now, we're not..
and furthermore, before you could talk abt tour managers, the music scene must united first. i keep on seeing "a line being drawn" from each of the bands playing different types of music. yes, u might not like their genre but it wouldnt hurt us to support them. i reckon that if our music scene was united, then yes, maybe the next step for bands to progress is to get tour managers and get em to play across asia
that'll be awesome!
but we gotta start from home first before we could tour other places.

what you people think?
do i make any sense?
cuz in reality, i've got no common sense
HAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHA

actually there are managers... not specifically tour managers lah, but band managers in a wider aspect. but look at it this way lah, you got to be big-time for you to warrant their services. if not its probably gonna be a waste of their time

i dont need a manager... hot chick groupies will be more than enough

We need more sexay ladies in the local music industry.

When office types at Shenton Way dress more sexily than local female musicians then there truly is something wrong.

Ladies please loosen up where appropriate and tighten up accordingly.

Well if you wanna play your heart out at a show you don't have to become a BIG name now do you?

'If you think pennies, you get pennies. If you think dollars, you get dollars."

You don't see strippers wearing a dress in a strip club now do you?(Well they do lah but still we all know what happens next)
