What SOFT can do.

Let's see.

Well, nope... A festival must consist of 1 thing. Bands of same genres... Can you imagine a metal band hosting for an R&B band? Think about the fans as well... The audience.

You seem like an authority on music festivals in that statement mah...

And so is this thread when nothing is done...

Will you be the one who makes the difference?

Will you be the one who makes the difference by arguing? By pointing my mistakes? Just move on man...

So moving on, sir. When we have finished discussing on how a festival can help us all, will we carry out and execute that above-mentioned festival?

yeah what we need is actually someone that can really invest in such big shows. most singaporean will not be willing to pay alot of money to see local bands. unless they are very very establish. well, maybe one day. BAY BEATS is good anyway. ahaha.

we need the moolah. but seriously, if we hold a metal fest, who would go? from metaltronic? who would be willing to pay for such an event?

thats the whole point man. why not well known gig organisers come together and try to form a BIG ass show. and try to keep the ticket price affordable. well, its just a suggestion. cos i dun really know about gig organising.

BIG ass show?only local bands or what? okay let's imagine this scenario. big ass show would need a big ass place. big ass place would be a big ass rent. big ass bands would want big ass money(unless they wanna perform free, not likely in this scenario). big ass gig would need big ass equip. the place itself can easily cost more then 10k. big ass equip? same. the bands? more big ass cash. at the end of the day, the tickets would cost big ass shitload.

Anyone who wanna organise big festivals should talk to Anthony (HeartRockSingapore). He's doing his 2nd one this year. And every year has its new unique challenges.

The logistics and financial aspects are a nightmare which can keep you up the whole night. A rock/ metal festival can cost up to a low 6 digit figure even before factoring in the artists' fees. Staging and barricading costs are extremely high.

If you are thinking of a local music festival... for what? There are so many marathon indie/ metal/ hardcore gigs out there which are like mini-festivals themselves. What would be the difference? What's the extra value for your events?

i wish i could comment but i'm supposed to be immature.

Is it the school holidays now? If it is I think it might explain all the new threads starts/activity by our local expert in all things metal - fashion, genre bashing, gigs organisation and all. It's his second day on SOFT and he has at least 50 post counts already. 8O

InfernoxDeath: Shoot me now but if the people *cough* can get along in the first place, or see eye-to-eye about 'business' then we'd have monsters of rock ala SG style a long time ago, wouldn't we?

Its good to dream la. But sometimes gotta look at the bigger picture. And start looking at ourselves from all angles!!!

You know nothing... ... Your theory in thinking seems to get you nowhere sucker...

No offence, not stereotyping or "giving a statement" but saying what I observe from SOFT.

SOFT is a place filled with talks but no action

You can whine, complain, and practically shoot the society till it does not even worth a cent but you just won't do anything. And when arguments arise, everyone wanna make their stand and still don't do anything.

Let me tell you what's a good argument or statement, you argue and you DO IT. Don't ask others to do it, they don't owe you. You do it, you prove it and make them "Mouth Stuck Lan".

So who are the kids? Don't slap ourselves please.

InfernoxDeath, I read your threads, and find most of your replies are aimmed at offending as much people as possible. Wats all the angst for dude? I can see tat u are passionate, but being passionate and offending almost everyone in this forum is not going to earn u any respect here.

As for organising festivals, the organiser of the Sembawang festival actually made a huge loss due to the low attendance. But he is going to organise another one but a smaller scale one around some of the bars that he owns. SOFT is not a business entity, so it dosen't have the money to do that. But it is helping promote local gigs and serve as a place to find bandmates, learn musical knowledge, trade musical ideas. Which I feel is already helping the local scene alot. This is definitely not a place for you to come and offend everyone.

Yes. And do you still hear their names being mentioned? I only know one band that's worth the recognition. Yakamashii. That's one band every SIngapore metal band should follow....
They might b big, bt Yakamashii is not evn close to Impiety's success. What abt Flesh Disgorged?

Ok I arrange. Metal concert. True kvlt metal bands only. But each band must play a variation of Barney's "I Love You, You Love Me", so that it can culminate in a great satan-worshipping festival with the Dark Lord Barney himself being summoned into prescence and we can all sacrifice little kids, barbequed chicken wings and teletubbies to him. I'm looking for bands now, InfernoxDeath wanna join?
