what PICKUP tone do you like?

I like either the Seymour Duncan Invaders, Seymour Duncan Blackouts, EMG 81.

im more to the heavier side of music :D

hmmm pickups i'd say the vintage jazz has the best sound to me i love it. but i have heard some pretty awesome stuff from a vintage p .. all that punch and tone.

well i love the MM's also but those are for totally different stuff.

pickup tone can vary completely depending on pickup design.

if you want to compare between brands perhaps you are only comparing in terms of quality. furthermore, pickups within a certain brand may not necessarily display common characteristics, so comparing brands only goes as far as the exact model in reference.

single/double/triple coils, piezo, etc will sound completely different from one another. this is where taste and preference really comes in.

pickup placement also plays a big part. pickup placement is in fact part of the design of the entire bass. so comparing this aspect of pickups is only as useful as comparing basses.

"lower and deeper" is relative to the pups that are currently installed on your bass. so its really a question of whether it will be lower and deeper than your current pups.

if you really want to change the tone i suggest you install an active preamp or just get a different kind of bass. you can change the quality of the components but you cant change the design of the instrument.

i like me large pole pieces MEC MM pups that comes with my wick ;p massive mid growl that can kill babies

depends so much on the genre.

for straight out rock and roll- dimarzio model J, or norstrand np4,
straight up jazz, nordstrand nj4 se

pure versatility nothing can beat the seymour duncan antiquities.

if you like harsher stuff like metal etc, or real hard core pop, bass lines do a good job as well.
