HI guys..just wondering.....what kinda Pickup did randy rhoads use on his polka dot flying V........in the video for mr crowley(studio version).... or what pickup would you recommend to acheive something close to his sound? dmarzio PAF pro?.....

if i remembered correctly its a seymour or dimarzio super distortion p/us. i read it in guitar player long time back.

+1 to echoist. if i am not wrong...rhoads , zakk wylde uses dimarizo...although i heard somewhere zakk sues EMGs

what pick ups were Rhoad using in this axe? It's nothing written on them, so I don't know what are they when i saw this axe.

that looks like the RR5. yes, they come stock with twin JB's. but randy rhoads uses the super distortion p/us. don't know if its just the bridge or both tho... is that pic from hard rock cafe?

zakk still uses emg rite? i didn't know he switched to dimarzio...

yeah i took that picture from hard rock cafe in Philladelphia.
I thought ZW uses EMG in his LP?

zakk walyde still uses his EMGs..if we din mixed up the info..the randy rhoads jackson model utlises the SD super distortion...but thats the signature series......but as for his custom POLKA DOT flying V..that i am not sure if its some Dimarzios or some custom Pickup......

I think RR use Duncan Distortion.

On Jackson they were are Seymour Duncan not DiMarzio. Jackson never use DiMarzio on any RR model

The RR line is just another series, it's not meant to replicate what Randy used himself. Oh, and if I do not remember wrongly, the RR line came after Randy passed away? I don't think he ever used one. :?

i know i saw a pic of him somewhere with the white RR guitar long time back. it could be in the linear notes of the cassette for the randy rhoads ozzy tribute album. and i read abt a rep from jackson confirming randy brought a drawing of the 'odd-looking v shape' to them. and i found these too:

the pic with the white v is what i saw coz i clearly remembered the tremolo that looked like a vintage fender trem type. the RR series did come after randy passed away, but they did produce the guitar for him only. the RR was mass produced later. check out the block inlays of the white one, looks just like on a custom LP!
