What next? New guitar? or new pickups

Hey guys,

I've been on the search of a new guitar lately. I made a trade deal for a MIK Epiphone Les Paul, which involved me bidding goodbye with one of my beloved strats. I love the tone of the LP, I just can't accustom myself to the feel of it. I find the neck abit short i think. Just not to my liking

My #1 now is a MIM Standard Strat that is entirely stock. I love the feel of this guitar and chose her after auditioning about 20+ strats in a store, this one beat the heck out of some MIA strats I tried in the store.

Im hoping to add a tele to the collection soon as well.

So now for my question. How can I get the LP tone on a guitar with a feel similar to a strat?

Should I just change the pickups on my strat (Its a HSS model)?

Or what guitar/brand/style should I be looking at to solve this problem?

I've asked around, seems like Blackwood Guitars bring them upon request. You can look them up for quotations.

Hahaha... I believe the sound got thicker to be somewhat like humbucks, but a lp tone? Don't think it'll sound as thick / ballsy though...

crap.. i know this but i really cant rmb!!! i'm such a huge jimmy page nerd and yet i cant rmb

jimmy page had a telecaster before any les pauls came. and he wanted that les paul tone so bad. so he did something and it was a success! i just cant rmb..

okay i'll go find out.

in the mean time. i'll give this suggestion:

seymour duncan pickup booster. LOL thats all i could think abt. ahaha

parker pm20 or pm20 pro.

Its a single cut like a les paul, mahogany body with maple top, mahogany neck,ebony fretboard. Tonepros tunomatic bridge. sd jb/jazz pups for the les paul tone(pro)

Its got a 25.5 scale, 1.653 inch nut, the feel of the neck is closer to a tele than a les paul.
Weight wise it comes under 8lbs. Due to the shape of the neck joint its easy to access the upper frets. This is as close to a tele/strat feel you're going to get on a les paul type body. Did i mention its got coil taps for single coil tones too?

For a pure les paul tone the pm20 pro is the way to go. For a hybrid in between les paul tele tone, go for the pm20 with the parker stinger pickups.

Nope its not for sale. Theres only 1 piece left at G77 and i doubt they're bringing in any more for a while.

The pickup booster isnt a good idea cause i run a wireless system when playin live.

I always wanted the hagstrom...Saw a couple at guitar workshop a few months back...beautiful headstock....

I guess buying a PRS will solve ur problem since it has the strat type cutaway yet lp kind of built...

Scale length? Weight? Body shape?

And by les paul sound do you mean thick? ballsy? urhz... dunno how'd you describe tone... lolz...

by feel i mean the neck. i find it short. just really different from my strat.

by the LP tone i mean that thick fat tone with that gobs of sustain!
