well there r a few bad ones.. could be other's favourites.. jus my preferences..

BOSS CS3
IBANEZ SM7
BOSS AW
Aria distortion
Jim Dunlop Rotovibe

but the "best pedal" to fit this category has got to be BOSS RV3..

RV3 is back ah ?
was thinking of getting it.... or maybe rv2, cause got delay too!

or maybe spring reverb..... haha on gas lately..

Dinosaur brand distortion.
Arion Stereo Metalmaster
BOSS AW3 (weak, very weak !)

boss compression sustainer. I find it not really as in worst, but it was weak... haha i was young then, thot this thing can can give me long long sustain.... oh well

Yup.. 2nd that. It sucked the tone real bad.

DOD Supra Metal ... my first pedal. I'm glad I only had to pay $5 for it.

Fuzz Factory .... I wouldn't call it the worst pedal but I really found it difficult to get a proper sound without a lot of fiddling. I guess its a pedal you either like or dont. Unfortunately, I was just looking for a normal fuzz so it wasn't my cup of tea.

woah, at $5, maybe can turn the supra metal into a noise pedal that make mad metal music

Oh, on difficult fuzz, hehe, i found a even more difficult fuzz pedal to control. The effector13 truly beautiful disaster. It actually seem to make the fuzzfactory sounds good and easy to control. With the truly beautiful disaster, the control of the fuzz actually extend to the volume knob, tone knob and the pickup selector switch on the guitar itself. It's quite amazing to me. This is definitely a like it or hate it pedal, imho. No 2 way bout it. For me, i like it haha, for the weirdness and the norm found in it....

BOSS CS3
TONELOK SM7

I second that! The CS3 is thin...hollow...noisy...
the SM7 is well...thin...hollow....noisy....

lol

though, I run it through a BOSS SD-1 and it "saves" it a little...

so..any recommendations on what to get for each class of pedals?

Like OD, DIST, CHORUS...etc?

Mainstream manufacturer stuff or will you consider boutique pedals?

if i were to choose jus 1 for each category it would be..

OD - Xotic AC Booster
(VS Route 66 comes close.. esp w the compression half..)

Dist - Tonebone Hot British
(i actually think a proco rat2 or vintage rat is very good for the price..)

Chorus - Visual Sound H2O
(FT choralflange is nice but too pricey.. )

hmm sorry if they all r pedals that i sell.. but i havent played too many of others.. so can't really say anything based on what i read n heard online.. seriously it's really down to personal preferences..

Cool...

I'm looking for that Paul Gilbert sound.... maybe a little of the Old Led Zep.. AC/DC sound too.

Got a couple of old BOSS pedals....namely the SD-1 (my fav)

Got no $$.... use alot of my ZOOM GFX-8 instead...

Wanna move away from the multi-fx though...want more control in the sound...

Just to sidetrack a little. Talking about paul gilbert's tone in RACER X. Anyone knows how to achieve that amount of gain yet not noisy tone?

Adding a noise suppressor?

I believe Paul used to use ADA preamps.
