What does an EQ pedal do?

I think the Artec one is quieter and true bypass compared to the Danelectro. I might be wrong.

Depends on how you want to use your eq,

If you want to shape your clean sound, put it before the dist unit.
Guitar > Eq > Dist > Amp

If you want to shape the overall sound, put it after your dist unit. Putting it after your dist unit can also be used for volume boosting.
Guitar > Dist > Eq > Amp

Both combinations may work for work so you have to try it! :D

Thanks!

But would using 2 dist pedals, one for your sound and the other for your solos, work too?

And if it's a viable option, how would you set the pedals to boost your solos?

Or would an EQ pedal still work better?

Remember: An EQ pedal can be used for volume boost, boosting or cutting the lower/higher frequencies.

You should try it out and what works best for you. :D

Have you grounded your amp? Change a 2-pin to a 3-pin?

If that problem persists, go for a noise reduction pedal. ;)

if you're referring to me. yes i have grounded and already 3 pinned the plug.
for bros who have this prob, but already done the above steps, i guess the
likely cause would be your cables. any ideas on wat else could be the cause?

Much clearer!

Thanks guys!

I guess for now, to save me the troublesome effort of changing a 2 pin to a 3 pin plug, I think i'll just get a EQ pedal!

Thanks again, guys! ;)

i think grounding (i.e. changing to 3 pin) and an EQ pedal serves different purposes....maybe u misunderstood what they've said....getting an EQ won't help grounding issues

agreed.

noise gate (or suppressor) helps to remove feedback coming from the guitar. say, if you use single coils and hate that unwanted noise, this is the pedal to use.

eq just shapes the tone of your guitar. background noises cannot be eliminated by the eq pedal alone. may be possible is you know which frequency to tone down.

as for grounding issues, an eq pedal and noise gate wont work, since this is caused by the amp and not the guitar. so dont waste your money on the eq pedal for the sake of grounding issues! a three pin plug is so much cheaper and easy to change, provided if you know the steps.

Alright......I'll think hard about that.

But I guess the main thing I really want is for my solo to cut through the drums and bass and rhythm guitar?

Is that difficult to ask? :(

Nope, it's not. Don't take it to heart. I get your point bro.

Cutting through for a solo, use either an EQ or Volume Booster.

If in the future, there's humming by your amplifier, do change your 2-pin to a 3-pin ya?.

All the best! :D

a Noise gate will NOT remove feedback , it removes that 60 cycle hum quite effectively but does not deal with feedback haha
