What do you use to grease your wahs?

As per the title, what can you suggest?

I looked for a lithium grease at DIY shop this afternoon and all they have is the pressurized-type. Anyone knows where to find that white grease that comes with RMC wahs?

hehe. Too bad mine didn't come with lots of it. I just read from other forums and they use white lithium grease, it's just that I don't know where to get it here.

ohh ic, i dont know where to get it either. my first thought would be hardware stores but i have not gone to one and looked for lithium grease before.

would be good to know where or if theres any other common alternatives. just wondering, can normal contact cleaner be used to lubricate and clean the gears?

Sorry, I'm such a gear slut, so I have to ask.. What wah do you use?

good question bro, haha

do not use contact cleaner or wd40 as those actually washes away the lubricant.

You can prob get lithium grease from those better bicycle shops or RC <remote control> shops

but not all are white, some are red, blue color ....

here's a nice grease sold locally, but its teflon based.

thanks for the info bro, i only know that WD 40 shouldnt be used but not sure of other contact cleaners.

@ratboy: Thanks for the info. Will check it out.: )

@dudelove: I'm using RMC WOF, first version(the one with the much-preferable black treadle). I had it worked on(with direct help from RMC themselves, who provided the pic-loaded instructions) by TYMC for a simple mod that will convert it to a 2nd generation one. The first gen suffers from extreme feedback under high gain. It's just some resistor change and a grounding relocation thing.

@wck: I read that lithium grease shouldnt touch the pots and other parts as they may short them so they should just be kept on the moving parts only(reason why I didn't buy the spray can lithium grease, as it may splatter on the circuit). WD40 is not recommended and while they may work, it's only for a short time.

ahh, didnt know that. ive never really needed to grease my wah before cos so far, it always chooses to break down before the moving parts start to screw up so the person thats doing repairs for me helps me with it haha.

Just another suggestion, if the spray can lithium grease is better and more readily available u could spray it onto a surface and use something to spread it onto the moving parts.

@wck: I read the canister label and says that it's liquid-based so I think I'm going to have a hard time doing what you said as I have to spread it evenly on every tooth of the gear. If it's like toothpaste or whipped cream when it comes out, I'm fine with doing it. But for 14sgd, I'd rather find the correct one in one go. I wouldn't want to be 14sgd away from buying that you know what. hahaha.

ohh liquid based ah. i thought it'll be more like whipped cream. haha, yeah..take no risks cos every cent counts when you're getting closer to buying it..
