what do u play when testing out a new instrument?

im really curious, what do you guys play? cos i pop by sweelee and davis and hear lots of pple play small portions of enter sandman and sunshine of your love usually. and when i see more advance players, my fingers just freeze in the shop. lol :lol: :lol: :lol:

preferably..sumthing in the genre which u plan to use the guitar for..

for example..if ur a bluesman and testing out semi hollows..u wud normally play blues licks..

hahaha yea, but lyk wad do u test out if ure a metal or punk or wadeva genre player? as in do you all have a standard selection of song riffs or solos?

some cant come up with their own riffs..so they play riffs from songs..no fixed thing la..wadeva comes to mind..juz wank it out. :lol:

i play some bluesy thing, harmonic minor and a 12th fret pentatonic run as fast as i can. and probably some chords as well. but most of the guitars i've tried are budget ones so i'd only test the feel most of the time hehe.

I don't really dare to play what I play 'coz them people in the store look so pro...then when I try to play what I want, I screw up, lol...

haha but for me is i play whatever that comes to my mind, it feels more natural to me this way so i can focus more on the instrument rather than my playing.

bad service! if i got service-d like that i would go learn 'attitude' by GnR then play it in front of that store helper. after i'm done i'll point my finger lol.

seriously care for what. it's not like as if u trying to show off. it's not only pros who can test guitars at shops u know. n if ppl think u trying to show off what can u do (n so what if u really are, lol)? it wont in any way harm u anyways.

improvisation to get the feel of the neck.

then if i really wanna test it out, play some double stops at higher frets to test intonation. bend it like fuck to see if it still stays in tune. if it has a whammy. wang it like fuck to see if it stays in tune too.

play a few licks here and there to see if im lucky enough to spot fret buzz n stuff like that.

if i check fretbuzz i would do it unplugged the 1-2-3-4 finger exercise.

For me.........test ur palm mute!!!!!!!! some guitar u just can't plam mute on it. One more thing try play some notes towards e end of the fret lets say fret 22...........some guitar just didn't give e sound u want some times
