I am looking for a high-gain HB pickup. Curently my bridge HB is almost 'non-existant'. What are the good ones to get, my budget is around $100. Dont mind a used one too.
I play mostly rock, muse, mcr, green day... I dont play metal. And how much does installing new HB usually cost??

high gain got damn a lot of choice. Dimarzios are expensive. consider seymour duncans. alternative 8... duncan distortion... dimebucker... invader... actually, I think the super distortion is nice too. But it's quite expensive.

Try find a used Dimarzio Deactivator. If you are those who enjoy turning the gain to 11/10 and ripping the knob off then try Dimarzio X2N as well. Brutal.

Dimarzio x2n might be suitable for you, I've got D-Activator X on my bridge and neck, really good passive pickups , they sorta look like the x2n, sounds awesome on high gain. Moreover the cleans are pretty decent too, doesn't sound too dull and plain, should check them out.

About the cost of installation, you can try to DIY, provided you have a soldering iron and some solder. Look up the net for some instructions, but basically you're just swapping it out so it should be quite easy.

Yeh you could do that if you're good with stuff like that or take it to Beez at Roxy Square or something. I'm not too sure of his exact address. Last time I checked with him , he said it cost $25 per pickup.

Anyone knows how much EMG 81 85s cost in Singapore?

Wait... i just realised i needed a NECK pickup. When i flip the switch to treble, it produces a very bright sound. In the middle pos, it has a more balanced tone. But when i switch it to rhythm, there is no diff from the middle pos. I conclude that the rhythm pickup must be changed. Am i right?? Another thing to take note is that i play a LP copy(costs 220 at CM sale) through a line 6 15W. Is it worth upgrading, i have the dough to upgrade due to the ANGPAOS. :D

I am looking at the tesla plasma II at SV. Is it suitable for my music??

I want to STRANGLE YOU!!!

You are talking about changing pickups when the rest of your gears are still crying for attention!? You are not going to do your new pickups justice. You should upgrade your amp and/or effects before thinking about changing your pickups. Lets face it, a 15w Line 6 amp? You should be more or less be accustomed to the different tones that different amps, especially tube amps produce. Or else you cannot really hear what the hundreds of dollars you spend on the pickups do for your sound.

Anyway, If the middle position and the neck position of your guitar's pickup selector sound similar/the same, it does not mean that one of your pickups must go. If your guitar have only 2 pickups (dual humbucking), it might be possible that both pickups are activated together, so the difference between the two positions might not be very obvious (like switching off one light in a room full of lights)

Economic crisis affects everyone, please spend your money wisely. I NEED A JOB!!

+1 to what vidak just said. seriously. it seems like this point has been brought up a thousand and one times. and yet ppl are still asking what pickups for this for that. when by right, they shouldnt be blaming their pickups for their bad tone.

i can assure u. play ur same guitar, with the 'crappy' pickups in em through a good and nice tube amp. i swear it will sound beautiful.

the post on subversions blog says it all. and i really dont know why ppl just refuse to listen.
