hey guys i need ur opinions on what bass effects i should buy first.please gimme ur recommendations n where i can find em. and any of u guys noe wat a bass limiter does?

Buy a compressor/limiter! gives your bass the punch that it SO requires.. the most essential pedal for a bassist!

I agree on what swenseng says! Get a comp!
I'm fan of EBS which does pedals for bass, only! But there are many.

Happy testing...

compression is relative, but i have to agree that a good compressor can do wonders for your live sound. it's just that lately i've been leaning towards a more open sound, so it's either compressors with a variable blend or no compression at all for me.

i'd like to get something that warms up my tone first, though. sansamp, some sort of low-gain overdrive or a nice outboard preamp if i'm running a passive bass. some of the best tones i've gotten were from a passive p-bass run through an aguilar outboard preamp straight to board.

buy a hartke bass attack preamp pedal .
.. city music selling.. shld be arnd 115++
got almost everything u need..
u just have to try it..
welll its my opinion ...

you can get an outboard preamp to enhance your tone. some pedals you can consider: sansamp bddi, mxr, aphex bass xciter, hartke bass attack and the list goes on..

good luck!

also it'd be good if you could give us the price range you're working in. the hartke bass attack is good for the money, but if you've got a bit more to spend you should go for the sansamp.

for price range

i am not worrying about price. planning to buy a boss bass limiter enhancer , you guys know any place that sells it?and the price too? and for the sansamp preamp where do they sell it? n for about how much does it go for? anb about buying the chorus hmmmmmmmm i dont know how to slap yet.lol
Once i do i will probably try and find a morley bass wah. ill prolly buy 2 pedals next month, one is the enhancer the other prolly the preamp.

sorry for the hordes of questions guys and i really appreciate the help so far

cheers,

i get a little bit of heartache when i hear about the aguilar. i think i pm-ed u about it before. it is so damn difficult to find in the US. but i ended up getting a SD SFX06 and it is fine.

i wouldnt use a compressor because i dont think it will go well with my fuzz and chorus, which i use alot. i used to have a mxr dynacomp but i sold it away because it was redundant.

i dont mind getting an autowah or synth. but that is extremely lavish

if you are not sure which effects u will use, maybe a multifx?

buy it new! i think it's pretty worth it, especially with the current exchange rate. i got mine from basspartsresource at just over S$300 i think... now they can be had for about 280.

if i offload the paranormal then maybe i would... but having gotten the paranormal i dun really wanna let it go lah

anyway i dunno if this is OOT, but how would an xotic preamp compare to an aguilar?
