I still love Jimmy Page's tone.. particularly for these songs:

Solo tones:
Stairway to Heaven
Since I've Been Loving you
I Can't You Baby
You Shook Me
Communication Breakdown (with the wah on full tilt!!!)

Rhythm tone:
Moby Dick
Whole Lotta Love
Good Times Bad Times


Whenever I pull out my electrics to play a song I would always try and go as close to any of those tones as much as possible.

loved the hollowed tone, how does he get it???

eric johnson - rain
nice and jazzy and the solo has his trademark tone

steve vai - tender surrender
still my favourite song of all time, really love the tone

joe satriani - the extremist live in denver
the mids are boosted so insanely, harder and sharper than an ice pick

nothing really fancy, but i like the solo tone and the slightly dreamy verse fills

nuno - he man woman hater
flight of the wounded bumble bee sounds so nintendo-ish, and the chunk and classic rock tone for the song is sweet
