Dan Brown stuff I only read Da Vinci Code. Finished this book called Sky Burial by Xinran recently. Very touching story. Based on a true story too. Go Borders now, they have 3 for 2 deals with lots of good books.

Anyone read Freakonomics? Is it any good?

ME ME ME! IM A DAN BROWN FAN! I'm trying to get Angels & Demons from my friend. But he can't seem to find that book. Favourite book is Digital Fortress. :D

These 2 books rank at the top of my list :

American Gods by Neil Gaiman
Sophie's World by Jostein Gaarder

For less content-heavy stuff, I like the Forgotten Realms series by R.A. Salvatore, though the earlier story arcs are notably better than the newer ones.

I think Dan Brown's books are somewhat the same. Except for the setting and characters. Compare Digital Fortress to Da vinci code, it has the same suspense, but only different settings.

Reading "Digital Fortress" right now..

Subversion: Man that book looks interesting. Where you bought it and how much??

Yeah but Angels and Demons reveal somethings about Illuminati, while Da Vici Code reveals some stuff about the Grail Quest and whatsdatsecretsociety(?)...That makes the book interesting for me. The plot and what not is quite secondary for me. Btw, I bought A & D for $6 at a used bookstore. It's not hard to find except they dun have many copies at any one time.

Read the opening bits to AMerican Gods. Very intereesting writing. I like Neil Gaiman, but his settings always a bit unfamiliar to me cos quite heartland America or UK...Anansi Boys also.

Am reading this non-fiction research book called Mutants. Will tell more about it once I get past a substantial amout of pages

the Templar Revelation was mentioned significantly in DaVinci Code/ Angels & Demons, it's non-fiction & i'm reading it real slowly. got it online: www.acmabooks.com.sg however, about 2 weeks after its acquisition, it's available @ TIMES...

Oh yes, I also just finished reading this book called I Moved Your Cheese by Darrel Bristow-Bovey, it was given to me as a birthday gift lol

Talking about self-help books, The 7 habits of highly effective teens is good.

The Priory of Sion/ Knights Templar?

Yeah! The Priory of Sion is real! Some kind of brotherhood/secret society.

a little off-topic: the Masons/ Freemasons are also mentioned in DaVinci code, not new to me as i read it in my Jack The Ripper readings, but the thing is- do you know that there is a building in S'pore that prominently (at least for those who looked) displays the Mason's logo? i'm refering to this insignia:

Freemason! That's it! Hahaha...

Priory of Sion is some Catholic affiliated erm...arm right? Mentioned in the book. Knights Templar were the protectors of the Grail, which is even more ancient...

Finished the book only a few months back, and now i got my facts all wrong...wth....

I like the new wave of books hitting Borders lately. Some fiction, some non-fiction, but entertaining read. Anyone read Gerrie Lim's Ivisible Trade? Readnearly half of it at Borders. Interesting inside stories about the call girl trade in Singapore...

on wikipedia it says

"Freemasonry is a worldwide fraternal organisation. Its members are joined together by shared ideals of both a moral and metaphysical nature, and, in most of its branches, by a common belief in a Supreme Being.:

they believe in supreme being?

subversion: You're pretty smart in this field! :)

The Freemasonry building is near Excelsior/Peninsula Shopping Centre and the Fort Canning Park. For those interested in the Jack the Ripper readings Subversion mentioned, check out the film From Hell.

The Illuminati are:
Knights Templar
Freemasons
Shriners
and many more...

I was quite interested in Freemasonry once... Damn. I even wanted to be one of them...
I heard that the "Magic Flute" by Mozart has got some Masonic stuff...
