Whammy EFX vs Floyd Rose

One thing Ive been very curious lately is the difference between the Whammy EFX and a floating bridge like Floyd Rose. Both does the same alteration of pitch, which essentially should be the same thing, but why is it yet different?

Pls do not state the obvious, like "one uses ur feet, the other uses the tremolo bar..." LOL!!!

They sound different, probably because of the technique you use - which is probably the obvious line that you stated. :P

Other than that, there're technical limitations - a effects pedal will take the signal, process it, and shift the pitch, while your FR is controlled by you alone, ie 0-lag time alteration of the signal while you're playing (excluding time taken for the signal to travel through your signal chain.)

Try doing vibrato with a whammy pedal.
Try.... diving into the deep then doing a screaming harmonic up to the heavens, with a whammy pedal.

Limitations. :) Both also sound different.

floyd rose bridges come on guitars already, u'd still have to buy a whammy pedal..

therefore, fr bridges for whammy sounds are cheaper..

fr bridges are more versatile than whammy pedals as fr bridges are limited by your imagination.. whammy pedals are like 1 trick ponies...

both will dictate a differnet playing style.

Try doing something Tome Morello does with his whammy pedal witha floyd rose, not very possible.

Try doing a nice flutter with your whammy pedal also not very possible.

Both have their own use.

so it is about they sound they produce? hmm, i thought they are the same... looks like im wrong about tt... thankx dudes for answering my doubts...

Rock on

they actually complement each other ya ...thats why that red pedal is hot !!

its mechanical versus electronics ...but we need both!!
