weird hissing sound heard

repulsivity

Hi all,

not sure if i'm posting in the right section but here goes.

i've been experiencing a weird hissing sound when i plug my strat into any amp. even through my pedal board. there's this, noisy, feedbacky, high-pitched tone. i'm guessing that it's a ground wire that came loose or something. any advice please????

It's either your ground or the gain on your pedal is cranked way up. Try sitting further away from the amp and try not to let the face of your guitar face the amp cause that causes feedback.

He's experiencing hiss, which plagues both humbuckers and singlecoils alike... In this case it could be the guitar, the cables, or the amp.

I tried plugging to my amp straight, and it's just.. terrible!! =(
any idea where i can send my guitar for a good servicing and grounding? i usually send it to guitar corner (i think thats the name?) at penisula, but would like to try out another place too.

thanks for all the replies guys!

I suggust you test the cable first by plugging into the amp with another guitar cable . I also have this problem before and please note that cables do play an important part. Try not to use the cable that comes with the guitar, they are normally not very good.

yup i just experience a similar problem last week, and the hissing sound is completely gone with new cables. its certainly worth a try.

I would say the staff at TYMC are friendly and helpful, worth a shot You could email them for a price quote. Alternatively, you could try new cables as mentioned above. After all, good cables can last long and have better sound.
