Recently, i noticed that my guitar pitch changes when i pull my guitar neck (using a relaxed strength ) in a direction towards my back. is it normal? or is the guitar too old (6yr old sammick semi hollow)? i notice the action also changes when i pull my neck lightly. is it screwed?? or normal? its like flexing by 1cm or slightly less.

appreciate your replies softies :-D

of course there will be a change of pitch.

the amount of tension plays a very big role in the pitch produced. higher tension, higher pitch. lower tension, lower pitch.

its normal. pete townshend uses it a lot. but it obviously won't be good for the guitar if you do it all the time

theres nothing weird, its basic physic.

basically by tilting your neck, you are either stretching/loosening the strings tension across the whole length of the neck.

The whammy/vibrato/tremolo bar is of the same principle, except it is situated at the other end.

there are some musicians who actually use the neck bending as an effect in live shows as well, for visual aspect and sound variation.
