Hey all!@

Don't really know how many of you make use of the internet and its amazing applications to promote publicity for youurself and your band. basically, there are two very useful tools at our disposal today (apart from soft, myspace, agingyouth)

www.twitter.com
sign up with them, and they create a micro-blog for you which you can update via the website or by sending them an SMS. Now here's the fun part, bascially whatever 'followers' you have following your twitter feed will be contacted via SMS for that gig post you uploaded 1 hour before showtime! now they have no excuse to not know where and when it is. best thing is, you pay for the cost of one outgoing SMS because Twitter is the one that sends the multiple sms's.

feel free to add me at www.twitter.com/litford. i play with www.myspace.com/leesonsg

the other tool is www.jaiku.com
it sort of works like twitter, but it's sms functions only work with a few nokia phones (they're finnish based, hence the connection)
you can update your jaiku account via the web or via SMS, and it will update your jaiku microblog. the wonderful thing about jaiku is that you can add RSS feeds to it, and whoever subscribes to your jaiku will also know when your jaiku has been uploaded.

mine's here at www.litford.jaiku.com, and it contains feeds from my flickr, blogger and twiter. so basically it aggregates all my important blogging tools and allows you to access it anywhere!

start thinking of how you can use this for your own publicity! and add one another -)

i've always thought this whole SMS thing (especially used by M1 sms ads) can be used for local scene/bands etc.. but then again the drawback could also mean one thing : spam.
and some ppl really hate it.

then again I could be wrong heheh thanks for the intro.

hahaha.. nonono, i wholeheartedly agree with you. it is spam. i mean, the thing you don't want is attaching that word to the tool, if not.. when you publicise your gig, some folk will think associate it with spam.

well.. i guess it's spam and info all at once depending on how you look at it.
