WARNING:Guitar Set-Up Incoming!

After a year or so of playing on my cousin's old Epiphone Les Paul Junior and 10w mini-amp,I've finally decided to get myself my own guitar set-up.
I want to be playing punk rock stuff(Green Day,Ramones,Blink-182 etc.),which means high distortion,I guess. And I'll be playing in a bedroom condition,so I don't want amps that are too loud.

I'm intending to get myself a Strat copy with maybe humbuckers. And then,amps-wise,probably a Roland 15x or something like that. For that, and picks, tuners, cable and maybe a bag or case,I've set aside a budget of about $500 for everything.

You guys know of any good recommendations for a Strat copy?Or maybe a good package with a Strat and everything else that I need. And I need assurance that I'm supposed to be getting humbuckers here.

Here's a glance of stuff that I want to be playing:

you might wanna consider les pauls and SGs if you wan greenday/blink 182 sounds, they have double humbuckers,on the bridge and the neck.
personally i feel that the strat is build for clean tones not punk rock sounding.

+1 to the roland cube. i have one myself and its awesome:cool:

For the amp,you can get the roland cube 15x,its a good amp.
Anyway, you can also try the rally guitars @ SV if your interested in les paul copies also.

I've seen the Rally guitars they offer on SV but noticed that their humbuckers are all covered...I remember reading somewhere that although that's good for protecting against, what, dirt? But it'll affect the tone of the guitar. So I much rather prefer humbuckers that are not covered...is that what open-coil humbuckers are?Humbuckers that aren't covered?Or do they mean something else?

In Green Day early years, he used a Fernandes Strat (which he named as "Blue") + Blink 182 Tom Delonge early sig model is a Fender MIM Strat too :)

Shape doesn't matter lah. It is the pickups and your gears that contribute more to the final tone. Don't forget, the Strat is mean shredding machine in Malmsteen's hands.

AND..

billie joe armstrong uses this guitar... got no humbuckers on it...

yeap just get a decent guitar, after you get good with your skills you might wanna sell the gutiar to get a better one or simple just upgrade your current guitar to get better tone.

i would advise you to head down to the store itself to get a feel on the guitar and the tone. Its much better that way

well yes, shape dosen't matter. Its actually whther you like the tone of the guitar.

Teleplayer: Actually, it is a humbucker. It is a stacked humbucker, so it looks like a singlecoil as the other magnet is wound below. Some players think that humbuckers, in reducing noise, compromise the tone a little, so the stacked humbucker comes in... If I'm not wrong.

Guitarhunter: I also recommend the Smash S2s. Stratocaster copy with humbucker at the bridge position. And very affordable too.

Mmmm...looks like the Smash S2 Series is a recommended product by many of you guys...But the humbuckers are covered, which means the tone is affected more or less.Anyone know if the covers can be removed? And any store offering a good Smash S2 package?(PLS NO SHIITY AMPS:()
And that aside,I've thinking for some time now,I've wondered about getting a guitar regardless of it's pick-ups and then have them replaced with Duncan JB Model Humbuckers...sounds good? But then I'll have to be considering alot of other things...like guitar wood and so on...MAN WHAT AM I TALKING?:confused:CAN SOMEONE JUST HELP ME SORT MYSELF OUT?LOL

Get a squier bullet special and fit it with a SD invader...:D
i did that and it sounds great...doesnt break the bank too

Lol,I only know the BJA used humbuckers on his Strat but I don't know what pickups Tom uses for his Strats.
Anyways,I've surferd the forums and saw this package being offered @ Standard Value(Where's this?):
http://standardvalue.com.sg/store/in...od&productId=4

It's 3 single coil pickups but I think I can get them replaced. But what opinions do you guys have of this Strat copy? The Smash S2 or the Timbre SR200??Oh yeah, and WHAT ABOUT THE AMPS?Is it worth $70 to upgrade?Or should I just get the Roland 15x???

Ok,I've decided on getting a Smash S2 but there's a Lite NA model and the Standard model @ Standard Value.I'm guessing basswood is the better option here.Correct me if I'm wrong?

And,anyone knows a cheap pricing for the Roland 15x amps?It's $140+ @ SweeLee and I know deep down,there's a cheaper price!!!

Anyways, anyone knows where else stocks Smash S2s?SV only offers black and white colors and I don't want to be too dark or too bright...I'm thinking something like light blue?(Like BJA's Blue,LOL!)
