wah wah question

I just purchased a vox wah from city music yesterday and I was pretty satisfied with what I have, but in overdrive I cant seem to get that screeching wah sound. Apart from adding more gain, any idea how to achieve it? Does overdrive pedals play in here?

thanks! I shall go try it out! or does adding fuzz play a part too?

fuzzes are very very very very very fussy when it comes to wahs... some ppl even place the fuzzes in front of the wah to solve problems. my experience with using the wah pedal while my fuzz pedal is on (my fuzz is behind the wah), is that the sweep becomes much much narrower and i cannot cut throught the band AT ALL..

apparently, there are some fuzz pedals that solve this problem. for example mxr's new fuzz pedal has a buffer switch that eliminates the problem

are u referring to my post or izeds post?

gahh.. haha very lazy to explain.

calling for godspeed64!! the fuzz dweeb.

ah haha sorry!! I think both! how much did bro Ized pay for getting his vox modded?

i think u should pm him for that. but do note, the mod he got is to HIS specifications. what works for him will not necessarily work for others. i got mine modded by seekz for and extreme increase in treble and a wider sweep. many ppl dont like super harsh trebly wahs but i do, so i got mine modded to my liking.

well, i think u dont understand what the wah's sweep is is it? like wide sweep, narrow sweep??

+1 there. Mine actually isnt really considered a mod since the entire PCB has been changed for something else  think of it this way, outside it looks like a Vox, but its totally not a Vox at all.... its a gooseworx custom

But if you wanna know more go google RMC wahs.....boy they do sound good, Goose based mine on the RMC Wizard Wah but it still has tweaking options so you can get the stock vox sound on it. Inductor and pots remained unchanged but i find my vox wah so much more usable now.

If you'r interested, drop Goose an email and ask him for the "Ized Vox mod". quite a few ppl with Vox V847as have gone that route already. Its a no brainer to get that wah so cheap at the sale (75 bucks) and spend a bit more to get it to the level of a booteek wah. My wah is a tweaker's dream and i love it.

thanks Ized!! :D i dropped him a pm but no replies yet.. i just got my wah like 3 days ago so haha i would really like a wider sweep and more accomodating fuzz tone to go along too!

accommodating fuzz tones. if i'm not wrong it has nothing to do with the wah.. but the buffer in the fuzz or something someone correct me if i'm wrong please.

u should ask goose how to get ur wah to work well with the fuzz. the fuzz might be the root of the problem not the wah..

what wah and fuzz are u using??

1.try your wah after fuzz if you dont like it before. Experiment!
2. I would suggest you email him rather than PM, cos he dosent really reply PMs nowadays...too many kids asking for free advice and not even a simple word of thanks. like what Edder says, he dosent work behind a helpdesk.

agreed with izad and hifi. wah after dist will give a more subtle wah and before will give a more aggressive sound

Hehe Ized bro, perhaps it is time for me to come out with a "Bukka Custom Mod" from goose kekeke........personally i kinda dig my vox wah just as it is, with only a true bypass mod........cause i like the classic vox wah sound. Of course, if i have a choice of more versatility like Ized's mod, i will definitely get it!

next time when you pop over lemme know i'll come over to let you try...can guarantee you'll get it ;)

haha thank you guys! i actually dont have a fuzz pedal.. i only have distortion unit(of which i think it is), an Ibanez Smashbox! for now im just gg to use my amp dist! haha!
