VPost USA shipping charges?

Has anyone shipped a guitar via Vpost USA before? I'm on the verge of getting a Gibson Les Paul from the states and would very much like to find out from anyone who has experience how much the shipping using Vpost will roughly cost. I know they either go by the volumetric weight or the real weight but i'm still unsure. Any help rendered will be much appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for the reply but thing is i'm not sure how heavy the item is or how it'll be packed so the calculator's not too useful. So am just asking if anyone can give a rough estimate?

hmm sorry to hijack the thread... can you use vpost for ebay? it's not exactly listed on the vpost website.

Yep u can, but they dun consider it as a person to person sale, even for used items. So as long as your package value is over a certain amount, I can't remember if it's $400 or $500, u will be charged GST.

Yeah, that's what i wanna use it for, for a ebay buy. And i've checked that you have to pay GST for purchases over $400, but i dunno if you can get away with that if you ask the seller to mark the item as a gift and not state the price on the package.

so virus, have you gotten a guitar sort of from ebay using vpost? i just wanna roughly gauge the shipping price for a guitar.

Noe never use the vpost but alot of my friends who ships using vpost and said they save alot of bucks..than using FedEx,USPS etc...No need to worry abt guitar shipping price if u noe yr budget..already right? For sure the price will not as high as shipping a hefty amp or poweramp.

I've bought a Les Paul Custom online some years back... the shipping for that guitar came up to USD$180++. Wasn't that cheap after comparing to the price that I can get locally... :( Though the condition of the guitar was good...

i am not making any conclusions here.

but i have enough reason to believe your account was made solely to advertise.

if you need to know shipping dimensions/weight you can always ask the retailer. guaranteed that the response is accurate. we can only suggest.

it cost me around $150 sgd before gst to ship a guitar with hardcase via vpost usa 2 years back. it could have been cheaper cause the seller pack the guitar using a box that was way too big. Singpost charge according to the size of the box. overall quite ok experience. not too ex. But i prefer to ship via fedex.

Thanks for the info. yeah, I've been thinking lately about buying guitar using vpost. you see, i want to buy epiphone casino. Its cost around $1,280 at local guitar shop. But on US-based sites, it sells at US$599. Free shipping, thats mean its free of charge to viapost US office, right?
After conversion and plus shipping rate $150 that you mentioned, I will still save $300. With that cash still in my hand, i can buy some good strings and effect. yay!
but how much the gst charges for item above 1000 ka-chings?
Because if i ask them the mark it as gift to escape the gst, but somehow the very 'On' immigration officer decides to check the big 'gift' parcel to make sure the item below 400, then how?

and anyone can please quote VIAadress. some say its cheaper.
