Amp Problem

Hi there, I was planning to buy one the 50AD50VT-XL,now Im not sure, maybe get the Line 6 Spider III.

Any ideas on the Line 6 amps.

Thanks,

IMO, Line 6 amps are really horrible.. For practice its ok.. In the long run you'll realise the tone isn't so appealing..

Amp Problem

Oh well, now it becomes more complicated, too many amps out there, but not sure which 1. Maybe the more experienced guys might shed some usefull tips :)

Thanks in advance

TS i dont understand what u mean by a saying its a time bomb.

i've been using an ad30vt and it has not let me down at all.. to me its one of the best hybrid amps out there.

SNORT. Eh I love line 6! I get the scream I need with much less tweaking that tube amps!

well, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. one mans meat may be another mans poison.

i personally do not like most solid state/hybrid amps built in distortion. and i personally do not like the line 6 one too.

Well.. I find Line 6 simply lifeless, unless you use some digital modelling stuff with it or something.. Analog pedals + line 6 amps is a disaster..
Marshall amps, especially entry levels ones sound too "grainy" on the clean channel.. Too much dirt in the clean signal..
Roland amps are great and are a bang for the buck.. Good tone and nice inbuilt effects..
The Vox AD series is really good, but imo the the non-XL series is better..
Sound drive amps are cheap and good too..

And you don't need to tweak a tube amp a lot.. Just turn up the volume! Plus, don't SS and Tube amps share the same controls? Bass Mid Treble Gain Volume (maybe Presence)? Why would it be any different to dial in a good tone?

Amp Problem

It's tricky now that Im planning to get my own amp, usually I used Marshall & Fender amps that are provided on the stage (not sure of the model). It's easier to play arround with some1s amp :D but it's time to get mine.

Thanks for the tips guys, I'll try my luck finding my amp.

im using ad30vt as well.. i really like d amp.. but its been giving me problems lately.. it runs as per normal for d first 10mins .. then itll start crackling n die off den its okay again n d cycle repeats... at ferst i tot it was cable problem.. so i tried wid other cables.. same goes for guitar.. until i realise dat its d amp.. its jus too soon to hav problems wid d amp.. i dun move it ard much.. it jus sits at a corner of d room.. i jus plug in d instrument n play.. im not too sure wats d problem wid d amp.. prolly some connection problem wid d preamp tube.. anyway im bringing it back to citymusic tomoro..

i wonder if the 15vt will be affected like the higher powered ones..

having seconds thoughts abt getting a ad15vt..

Hmm, i own the ad30vt. Don't have those problems, but for me, whenever i switch to a different amp model, some effects will just come on. Read somewhere before that its aparently quite a common problem.

i have been using an ADVT15 for about a year or so now and I even bought it 2n hand.. it has never given me any problems... this despite me using it moving it around and using it for church a few times...

Somehow i have to agree that Line 6 amps sound alittle too digital.. i remember using one in Perth and it just sounded horrible with my effects chain (DS-1, Small Clone and DigiDelay)... but again to each his/her own tastes..

just my 2cents worth...

come on man.. let the pro explain! hahahaha.. joking..
ok.. TS.. open up your amp til u see your tube.. plug in your guitar and stuff.. start playing.. while playing.. "tap" your tube gentle.. if your sound changes.. thats because your tube is blown... or about to be blown.. or maybe its just loose.. just push it in..

u can easily get a replacement for 12AX7 as low as $12 to $20.. dun be silly to get anymore expensive ones cuz yours is a hybrid amp.. they dun make too much of a difference... get the electro harmonix one..

if its not the tube.. then there are a lot of things u need to trouble shoot liao..
guitar, cables, power, contacts.

whichever it is.. good luck in solving the problem!

TS, i had the same prob with the amp after 1 year of usage. i googled it and found that its a known problem with the advt series. Some people won't encounter such problems, it's a matter of how unlucky/lucky u are to get a faulty one.

Well i use the Vox ad50vt-xl i believe you gotta let the amp warm up before u start. turn the master off before u on. then slowly turn up the master. Well so far i got no problems for the amp.

Mine has the issue with volume fluctuations during playing. Not major, just like someone was playing with the volume knob slowly.

I got a new tube really to go in. Haven't done it... I'll report back when I do. My amp always had this issue after 6 months of use but it was never enough to be bothered too much about it. When I did finally get round to solving the issue, it went away...

I think its a engineering problem. Some lucky peeps might have it, some might not. Citymusic might be able to help since they're the official dealers for Vox

Apparently repair costs isn't THAT steep. Something below a hundred.

Just fyi, I've blown my AD30VT speaker before. It happens when you run the master and volume almost to 10 and the full power setting. The stock speaker cannot handle.
