Vox/Marshall/Randall or Others?

Hi guys. I need some recommendation on practice amps that cost arnd $200 or less. Im considering these few right now:
-vox pathfinder 15r
-marshall mg15cdr
-randall rx20r
-Dun mind considering other models/brands as well as long within budget.

I need an amp that offer superb cleans(for a practice amp) and take pedals well cause im only going to use the clean channel + reverb. Gonna be using the landmine pedal for my dist. needs and other pedals. I play mostly thrash metal stuff but i need a good clean tone as well for other genres.

thanks in advance!

if you wish for 'best', then you're barking up the wrong price bracket. in this entry-level range, you'd do better to embrace something which manifests an above-average performance rather than continue to wait/ hunt for a stellar performer.

do consider the following owing to their good performance with regards to the asking price, of course:

*VOX DA5
*Roland CUBE30X
*Ibanez TBX30R

Well, i guess i could wait a lil longer and save up. Ive tried the DA5 but i still prefer the marshall and Vox. But between randall and DA5, DA5 is more preferable to me. Never tried the roland/ibanez before. Base on reviews/specs of ibanez/roland ive read, roland is the ideal one cause of the Power Squeezing feature as a 30w amp can be quite loud for bedroom use. The extra features on roland is also useful to me like acoustic simulator/tuner/recording out. Ill try both out when ive save up enough and decide then.

Yes but i havent tried it personally before so i dont know how it performs. But base on my previous experience with diff models of marshall amps(mg15/30/100 & avt20/150 series), marshall is still no.1 on my list compared to vox/randall/line6/fender/ibanez that ive tried. Usually i just plug my LP straight into a Marshall Amp and after tweaking for awhile, the tone(clean/drive) is what im looking for. I dunno whether lower-end marshall takes pedal well and its troublesome to press the button to switch between OD and Clean. The footswitch that marshall offers is only compatible with the higher end models.

i would say that, the MG15MSII, as oppossed to the MG15, has a more desireable tonal manifestation- provided you fancy the latter in the first place :-)

since you are not at odds with solid state technology, i'd urge you to consider the Sound Drive as well... it's a 60-watter though :-)

oh ok. thanks sub for the recommendations. Ill most probably try all the recommended amps out first before commiting. Hopefully the marshall will suffice my needs as im a devoted fan of marshall amps =D

I use a fender 60w tube amp at home. sounds alright to me though.

My question: is $$ a factor or vol a factor?

Both but i dun mind saving up to max 300-400 for a practice amp. Ive received complains before by neighbours when i put the vol on my bro's amp between 2-3 and its not even as loud as whn you usually are in a jamming studio. My walls/ceiling are thin.

Yup, SS/Tube/Valvestate dont really matter to me as long as i get my ideal tone =D
The soundrive is way too pricey. i can get a wah, delay plus a dist pedal with that kind of money!!

you should have gotten my Sound Drive when i was clearing it... (not even $300).

not even $300 seriously!?!!? thats like less than 50% of cost price. I havent been browsing through soft for the pass few months cause busy preparing for prelims/o levels.

i got chem paper tmr and im still browsing the net =/
i should get back to studying now.

i've got an AD30VT and i think its pretty good for what i bought it for... only about 300 bucks brand new at citymusic. great deal.

If you are in desperate need of a nice, cheap practice amp, I would back the Pathfinder 15r. It's cleans are surprisingly good but the overdrive isn't much...which isn't a problem anyway since you are relying on your pedals for distortion. But I do agree with Sub...if you want a really good practice amp, can save a bit more. Sub, if you had cleared your Sound Drive earlier, I would have snapped it up instead of buying the Vox AC15CC1...not to say that the Vox isn't sufficient to my needs but...at the price you were selling...damn...

When I was studying for MY O levels, I remember Perfect 10 had this DJ...Ann Neo. Self-proclaimed rock DJ. One night late after midnight, I was studying for my Geog paper...I was stunned when I heard the first few notes of 'For The Love Of God'...she actually went on to play the entire track! Power....and she even followed up with Jeff Healey's version of 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps'...sigh...those were the days...

dude you dont jam at jamming studio levels at home..
i suggest trying out orange amps..
good cleans and you can find one at around 300 bucks..

it's all about timing- i didn't know my other SD's ETA... honest 8-)

Anne Neo also played Lynch Mob's 'Bed of Roses' on heavy rotation...

do not let restrained volume levels prevent you from acquiring amps of limited application.

of course i dont crank the vol at home like in jamming studio. i was just saying that the neighbour complained even though the vol is not as loud as jamming studio. its more like 1/5 of the vol at jamming studio which is quite soft.

orange amps avail at esguitar at penin right?
