Hi guys, I'm using a ehx stereo polychorus and the 120v adapter that come with it doesn't suit the local voltage. just wondering which voltage converter should i get and how much will it cost me? thanks...
You can go to Homefix stores, and ask for a transformer. They have a very nice transfomer there, i think its made in singapore or something, i can't recall, its not printed on mine. Heh. Better made than the Taiwan or China ones you find in Sim Lim... and not expensive. I got mine, with a 110v and 220v output, for just $30. Sturdy stuff.
thanks bro. is your transformer called newstar? i went to homefix and apparently they have this brand only. the staff asked me how many watts am i using cos they have a range from 60 watts to 1500 watts. so does anyone know how many watts ehx pedal is using? i flipped everywhere and just couldn't find any indications on my pedal..
I think so? Hahaha... Newstar... the only on eavailable in Homefix.
Well ,you have the EHX adaptor no? So you will go...
power souce --> transformer --> adaptor --> pedal
I dunno anything about eletronics, so you gotta wait for someone who knows, to answer your query about Wattage. Though, the smallest transformer would do I htink.
the effect is bought secondhand but it's doesn't come with an adapter at the first place. therefore i had been using a modified laptop adapter. the reason why i bought a ehx adapter is becos the laptop adapter current is too strong and it's always kind of like electrified me whenever i practise at home. now, the effect still worked with that adapter. tested it.
so i suspect it's should be that ehx adapter. i actually plug in without the converter when i first got it. my pedal worked but after 1 minute, the power die off. so just now when i plug in with the converter, power light up for 2 sec and then die off. wonder if it is my ehx adapter..
if you are running on a 100W amp, then the 60W converter won't work. Its just like a power outlet now. Power outlet can run very high Watts and will not overkill any home appliance. But for a converter, you have to specify the watts. Size varies. So just 3Watts, the 60Watts converter would be able to handle.
Why most manufacturer don't make 110-220VAC adapter and it is possible? They want to sell more. They will usually warn you that by not using their adapter will damage their equipment! You can try searching for another variable adapter as long as they have the same Voltage and Current rating.
What could kills is using a 120VAC input adapter on the 240VAC power outlet and connect that to your equipment. I have never tried that? Equipments are just too precious
