hmm...i wanna ask does any knows how to show the power in your vocal? something like theres a power in your voice when u sings?well..my friends said my vocal lacks of power and i just dont understand where that power comes from...

In recording studios, they usually dont care if you do a pitchy take, as long as you do an expressive one. Cos thats what singing is about man,

the feel...
(secondly cos they can tune you pitch digitally later on, hehe)

If not, you're gona sound like one of them choir people.

And the feel, is very hard to teach. cos its somewhat an inhibitation on the singer's part that the feel doesn't come out. So the only advice is to let loose and let it all out, dont be afraid to goof up, its better to goof up practisin then to goof up performing.

breakdown of the elements of the feel include, playing around with the timing abit, eg singing just that quaver of a note before or after the beat to create groove, accentuation of certain notes in a phrase, the attack of your entry, and the attack of every other note, how long you drag a note.. lots more shit

very sterile explanation... but takes away very sterile singing.

Jimi Hendrix doesnt have a superb voice, but he's damn expressive with it. and people dig that.

if i let loose i scare that i will gone off key...my friends told me that i sounds like i am holding back my voice...to let it out isit to relax?

perhaps besides those breathing techniques thing, u just gotta feel and sing from ur heart. then again, singing in a band is different from singing as a singer. but as long as u're in tune, and hav an attitude, I guess its alrite. gd luck! =)

musicraingal, voice power comes from singing with your diaphragm.. this is opposed to singing with your throat or through your nose. You may need a proper vocal coach to teach you the correct technique. Vocal power increases with training also.. some people have naturally stronger/nicer voice than others but all can be trained unless they are tone deaf..

Hey, I have a choral background and seriously, some of the 'advices' above are not to your voice's advantage. Firstly by power, people normally refer to Support, Focus, and Projection. To support is to anchor one's voice so it sounds firm and stable. Focus means your ability to concentrate your vocals so it doesn't sound airy (e.g. like whispers). And then project, to throw forward the sound you produce. These are all related somewhat to how 'powerful' your voice sounds and how audible it is. There are tonnes of other knowledge within each of these areas, so if you wanna know more, feel free to contact me at apokalip85@hotmail.com =)

Here's to better singing!

hmmm.. one way is that when you sing high you think low.. like your diaphame is going lower and lower... *cheers*
