Vocal cord connection

This seems to be one of my greatest obstacles currently. I feel like I have two methods of connecting my vocal chords, one bad and one good.

1. Squeeze my throat. Sounds boring and static, and has very low range.
2. Pull back and down from the back of my throat. Sounds bright and full, and has much greater range.

The problem is I have great difficulty accessing method #2. Some days I have it and some days I dont.

Has anyone else had a similar problem?

I guess you don't have any trouble with it :)

If you speak normally then your vocal cords are connected. If you whisper, they aren't connected. That's the basic idea .. there are lots of different things between though.

Also, falsetto is not connected, but chest and head voice are connected. You can tell because of the bright buzz in chest and head voice that is missing in falsetto.

And when you are breathing, they are not connected :) You can feel them come together when you start talking, especially on a sound like D or B

was wondering, does it occur when we shout or talk loudly?

sometimes , i tend to speak loudly, and i could feel tt i was talkin on top of voice using daiphargm.(dunno how to spell)
