Vintage guitar market exploited?

Epiphone's new guitar - the Wilshire - in which I think is massively overpriced.. definitely get it if its the normal epi price

Overpriced? Yes.

Massively overpriced? No. It's not meant to be priced at the normal Epi price as it's a MIA production. 30 years ago, Epi has a distinctive product line whereby its products were on par with Gibby and priced accordingly. The reissue is a reflection of that though they might have done a better job without making it a 100 copy LE and therefore lowering the asking price.

In terms of quality control, etc, would it rival a gibson in this case? I thought the QC and make is of Epi quality and they set the price with a vintage nametag

If you compare them with the standard production line's Gibson, yes. Compared with Historic and custom shop, no.

Think of it as a Gibson with an Epiphone logo.

Ugly? Yes.. I'll take an SG any day thank you very much.

It was introduced at $210 only. Though in my opinion, i find it ugly too, i'd pay $210 for this piece. If only it were the same price.
