USB guitar link cable with Guitar Rig 5?

Hello guys,

Does anyone know where to get a guitar to computer USB cable/adapter in retail stores in Singapore? Example http://www.ebay.com.sg/itm/USB-Guitar-Interface-Link-Audio-Cable-PC-MAC-Recording-Monitoring-Adapter-CD-/200798772694?pt=US_Audio_Cables_Adapters&hash=item2ec08a1dd6#ht_2674wt_1139

I have purchased one online but apparently the sender has screwed up the address, waited for more than a month already, so i would like to buy one in Singapore. I would like to get a cheap one preferably under $60. Many thanks!

i seem to have seen this before, cant recall where though.

perhaps you can look at acquiring a proper audio interface

http://www.luthermusic.com/category/audio-interfaces-usb-fw

some of them cost only like 90 or less and i guess those should work much better than the ebay one for guitar rig stuff

i tried the lexicon alpha with guitar rig and even that had a little latency, i think the ebay one should be even more high latency and that will affect your playing for sure

Thanks for the reply, but im just a student and fooling around with the guitar LOL. Ive actually tried using the 1/4 to 3.5mm adapter to mike for guitar rig but hell, the noise was insane but i still really liked the sound coming out from Guitar Rig so yeah, im really fine with anything as long as it does not have the horrible background noises.

if wanna utilised guitar rig to better potential, you need an audio interface between the guitar and the computer for proper signal conversion, impedance matching and better latency compensation(between monitoring the playback and overdubbing within you daw)

The method of using the 3.5mm to 1/4 can work, there be noise issue, latency issues etc. Theres a recording guide in the computer or recording forum in soft done by blueprintstudio that utilised this method that has some tips on getting better result. You might want to check that thread over there.

If wanna spend more time on the playing of guitar rig, imho, get an audio interface(usb or firewire and you have more time on exploring the program over dealing with noise issues.

For guitar rig, if wanna, you can check out their guitar rig kontrol audio interface cum midi controller which would really expand the functionality of the program to using it as a hardware efx/preamp multiefx unit.

Thanks, i have lowered the input gain and that almost eliminated the noise issue. However it seems like if i strum or pick softly the pickups or the software isnt able to pick up anything so nothing comes out, so therefore there isnt any sustain. The quality of the sound is also inferior enough to my own amp that has got me sticking back to it again.

Thanks for all the replies so far, im just a student trying out all sorts of different things. Not being too much of a serious guitar player here. I just do what i like :)
