I composed lyrics for songs but they got ripped by people who don't have the intelligence to write their own songs to suit their music.
I have some nice tunes and lyrics which are very personal that i occasionally hum to when i am down to brighten up my day.
I randomly compose tunes and lyrics sometimes on piano and i get nice tunes once in a while.
I have some nice lines on my bass which i did on my own but i can't put to use as a band is needed to make it work. (i will stick to piano i guess)
And i realize that fellow musicians do know have an idea or definite aim on what they are actually doing and how to market themselves and after that they grow old and their passion and dreams for music dies when the commercial world sets in.

Interesting that this thread came up just as I was moving into METAL! To be exact, 70s metal. Actually more like Guitar Hero songs, which have lots of metal songs. A band that plays covers heard on Guitar Hero and some 80s inspired originals. Metal is good stuff. Carry on wayward sons!

I used to play in the nite for quite sometimes. As it's been the thing I love doing. But, band got out place easily. People come in and go, I have no exception too. I moved from band to band playing countless places and bands. Getting people together ain't easy. Now, I use my laptop to play music mainly the accompaniment. Play guitar solo here and there with me singing. Less headache with having people around. Just a solo act. The disadvantage, feeling kinda lonely at times while on stage.

well, you don't really need a band to put up good basslines! (think primal scream and kowalski..heh) might be thinking of a collab if you're up for it, as i'm looking for ideas for a good bassline. well..sorta.
and yes, you are right about that last part. the commercial world does have a very very negative impact. well, it kinda sucks when you see people who have zero talent make it really huge and people who actually are worth listening to get peanuts.

Band attempts have failed, so I decided to go solo with my guitars and a simple drum machine to create raw black metal. Hopefully it does turn out right. I'm having a little difficulty with my drum machine for the moment.
ahh i see, interesting! good luck with your drum machine and your endeavour in general!

argh life is boring for me la. i got loads of melodies inside my head but i can't write them down cos i myself don't know what chords are used.
i'm doing a project guitar but tight budget. can't get what i need. gotta delay changing the machine heads...
schoolwise, maths is taking too much outta me. i don't understand ATE cos i missed a whole week due to attachment (which reminds me, i've got a report to do).
everything either gets on my nerves or straight to my heart. got deppressed last week and the week before but i'm all better now. i'm looking for the brighter side of life but all i see are dark clouds.
musicwise, my band is gonna play in a gig on 3 may. i havent sold a single ticket cos i don't feel like selling any. the people who i want to come can't come. the people who are my back-ups havent given me a straight answer. guess i better prepare some cash..
we havent practised enough for the gig.
plus, this really irritates me, my earpiece, the left side, is totally spoiled. NOOOOO it's my favourite one ever!!!!

i record the ideas into my phone using the voice recorder. for me, it's melodies. so i just hum to the phone and later on implement it onto the computer or synth. seems to work for me back then tho.
it seems weird at first, but just give it a shot!
haha.. i'll keep that in mind.. might just work for me.

20 year old pianist/keyboardist here. Recently graduated from Ngee Ann Poly doing Real Estate Business. Used to work as a property agent in one of the more well known real estate agencies but has since left the job as I really hated the idea of making cold calls. I love looking at properties and stuff but I just detest the idea of making cold calls to obtain your own clientel. Now working as a temporary admin AKA office boy while waiting for my NS enlistment letter.
I hardly have the mood to practice nowadays because as I grow older and older, there are many other things apart from music which I really want to achieve in life - career, NS etc. But of course music will still be in my line of interest nonetheless.
I'm currently playing for this band called Fall of Mirra as a keyboardist. We're gonna have our first gig next saturday 3 May at music garage. We're quite a rojak metal or so to say.
