tuners for fender stratocaster

pardon the noob question. i have an MIM fender standard stratocaster.

i'm gonna change the tuners. what machine heads will fit it? i dont want to buy something that doesnt fit.

here's how one looks:

hmm i hardly see these kinds around cos most of them in the market is the screw type...u better bring ur guitar down to check..this kind has 2 shafts that fits in to 2 holes in the headstock...

hmm so far i can only find this kinds man.. but it clearly shows u hw ur tuners look like...but even if u buy regular schaller tuners, u can retrofit it to ur guitar by making new screw holes...

Well, you could send it to the shop to CHECK the tuner size. Just don't let them swindle you into actually letting them do the changing. Guitar shops that have services are like that auntie shop in peninsular plaza that sells band t shirts and other stuff, you can't leave unless you have bought something. So beware....
OR you could just try your luck and hope you didn't buy the wrong tuners. That works too

himynameisarthur: LOL, good idea. But gotta learn the electrical stuff first. I already got my bridges and tuners down. Time for the pickups!!!! And money wise, err, i'll leave the experimentation till when I get an actual job. HAHA

dudelove: The 14:1 is the gear ratio,in other words,how much you have to turn it to change its pitch. As for tuners, those might not fit.

the gear ratio..the higher the ratio, the more accurate the tuning..the one u shld be looking out for is the shaft diameter..for this one it would do as it is also 10mm..

Still, the strat neck has 2 holes. The tuner shown only suffices for those one whole types, like the ones on les pauls

can def fit one...cos shaft holes for mim strats is 10mm++..but u gota make one new hole..if u see the headstock pic right, it is secured buy 2 short shafts above the main big shaft..and the one from gfs is the single screw kinds..i changed my tuners b4 and it fits..the 10mm one is the mordern standard size tuners..

So in other words, the tuners can fit only if u make new holes. But arent there tuners that are made for strats so players won't have to dig holes,lol, just curious
