Hello Robot,

though I have not heard your band performed before, I guess you have good reason to believe your band is good.

I do hope you will offer free perfomance for the sake of the community or the local music scene, much like us who put our time in organizing for free.

Many good points there...

I believe and can empathise with most of what you are saying, but my thinking is this.

If its a free gig, well its a free gig.No point argueing about it.Look for gigs that pay then.

Its not a matter of how good or bad a band is to warrant being paid....its the matter of available funds, proxy the financial situation of the organisers.

Music is an expression , yes, and should not be standardised.I guess only a true playing musician can understand this.

Just chill out man....

I was just asking if it is paid or not. If it was paid its better if it is not well good. I did not premeditate that I will be writing that long answer and set a mood for arguments because Im not pushing my way in for a paid gig.

Dont get me wrong I advocate this open mics and unpaid gig and been there performing for the love of music...free.

I read with great interest the posts by Robot, Mikemann n snuffles...

Without wanting to go into to much detail, I can say all three parties have valid points... I myself have been on both sides of the fence many many MANY times in my gigging history.

Robot - just my 2 cents but its better to PM or email the org when asking about payment rather than post in open forum coz $$$, sensitive subject matter and the nature of the forum(s) is such that one could be misconscrued... 8)

Mikemann - relax...sat I bring a special brew for you..hahaha

The Third Place is located at 231 Outram Road on the right side of Outram Rd going towards Cantoment Rd. It is just after Tan Boon Liat bldg, across the road junction and along the row of shophouses at the 6 sty building that stands right in the middle of the road.

i think this description may help, it always has for my friends...

it's 5 mins walking distance from Outram MRT, and it's near SGH.

Come out of the MRT, look towards SGH, turn RIGHT, walk straight down until u see a fork in the road, the building is in between the fork.
